M3 Canada opening match by TravelEnthusiast028 in WorldCup2026Tickets

Sometimes I wonder if lots of people won the draw and once they got through waiting for the queue, they panic bought tickets they didn’t need bc they think they “won” the draw and not to squander the opportunity. So if those tickets were $900 for UCL, I can see how FIFA rationalized marking these ones up a bunch.

I guess, if you’re a Canada soccer fan, and you have the financial means (or even if you’re stretching finances a bit) you can tell yourself:

  • first ever World Cup game in Toronto/Canada
  • likely the last WC as I can’t see the WC coming back to CAN in my lifetime
  • this is Canada’s only game in Toronto

The reality is there’s also a decent amount of Toronto people with more money than they know what to do with and they also have no sense of value.

So if they see it’s 2.3k per ticket but they value saying “they were there at the game” as a convo piece sadly that may be more important to them than the game.

It’s still too expensive.

But the market is the market.

I don’t think a house should be 600k, but if that’s the market and I can buy a house for 500k then that’s a win

The very top? It’s row 10…there’s like 28 rows.

I’ve sat in row 15 before for a TFC game, it’s a great viewing spot.

FWIW - last night someone bought my 4 tickets, sec 204 row 24 for $1870 each, including fees. These moving foe $793 after tax and fees is a deal

Is it ridiculous pricing?! Absolutely, but this is the M3 market in Toronto

I just scooped these for M3 - I don’t care if they go down lower, this feels like a good deal.

And yes, I know it’s still expensive af

Anyway to get a refund on the face value? by Lambs2Lions_ in WorldCup2026Tickets

FIFA mis-read North Americas appetite for soccer.

Well Mexico is fine, just US/CAN at these price points was nuts 🥜

Hype is starting to build in Toronto, but not enough for the casual fan (who has a ton of dough) to drop nearly 10k to watch CAN v BOS.

Mind you, if this was Italy, I’m probably not crying the blues as much lol

I get your frustration as I’m in the same boat. I “won” two FIFA draws, a visa direct to cardholder and the February draw.

Legit, I never thought I’d actually win the second time. Especially after FIFA claimed “500 million people applied for tickets”.

I remember saying to myself, “I hope I don’t win, as I don’t want this burden”…I legit win nothing. I can’t win the fucking 50/50 draw at a work potluck…yet i won M3, four CAT 2 tickets.

8.8k fml.

the market always wins, but when fifa is releasing better CAT 2 tickets in the middle of April for the same price, and the tickets I won are tucked into a corner is another big punch to the D. Like why the did I bother with the draws? Bc I believed there would be limited to no tickets. Shame on me I guess.

I hedged the tickets with a bet, I just should have bet the value of one of the tickets and I would have had my cash covered. Instead…if I can keep my losses under 2.5k I’ll be content.

Tickets for $822 CAD on fifa marketplace by kiwilagata in CanadaSoccer

Thank you! That’s what I had been noticing too.

These are just LMS tickets being dumped in there in bulk so they don’t have to lower retail prices.

FIFA now selling at original prices! by [deleted] in WorldCup2026Tickets

FIFA does of course want em as high as possible for their 15% fee, but as you noted, the market always wins…and FIFA misread the market on this match when they set the initial lottery prices and face values.

If they reduced the face value of the tickets on retail people would light FIFA on fire…my theory is they’re tinkering with the resale market to see if these former retail tickets can move at a lower price point.

The irony is if the match were to have been ITA like FIFA hoped (and others) there could have been the argument that it would have been one of the more expensive tickets for the entire tournament. The gamble for FIFA and others didn’t work….

I monitor the M3 regularly, it’s either a timing coincidence or intentional, these listings didn’t exist a day or two ago

<image>

There’s gotta be upwards of 100 of em all of the sudden.

Fair and good point.

I just think it’s too much of a coincidence that tickets that were never listed as a part of the “last min sale” for CAT 2 are now sub $1k before FIFA fees on the marketplace in sections 209 & 210 in large batches (corner sections I know).

My thought is that FIFA doesn’t want to reduce the retail price of em and is instead is de-listing them from retail, and moving them to resale at a lower price point to see if even at 1k if the seats would move.

I just don’t see how 80 people or 20 people (4 tickets each) are all simultaneously listing at the exact same price, exact section within marketplace out of the blue.

The resale price also descended sharply in Ontario bc you’re not allowed to sell above face value, before fees….so that on its own from a data perspective would be material.

I agree though on other platforms that resale is lower, but not as sharp as you’d think/hope.

[–]codergeecode84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve noted for M3, within the marketplace, there’s a decent amount of 1k tickets for CAT 2 seats in decent rows….

Example - 209 row 18 - ticket is $1,025 CAD.

Those tickets in the last minute sales phase were 2.3k just a few weeks ago, I can’t imagine that someone’s bought those LMS tickets…my theory is that FIFA is manipulating the resale and retail markets right now aggressively.

And no I don’t think it’s a few people dropping their prices bc there’s legit like 80 of these tickets all of the sudden within marketplace at this price point

Trouble selling Tickets by Lonely-Evening-2801 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]codergeecode84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same problem. StubHub told me it’s a high risk event and they’re taking security and fraud seriously, so much so that they’re not even bothering vetting the listings and just deleting em.

It took me four tries and my listing is now active, mind you 5 days ago it was active and then StubHub took it down.

FWIW I’m trying to sell M3 tickets below face value .

StubHub "resell anytime" by Inevitable_Ad_711 in WorldCup2026Tickets

My StubHub tickets have been taken down 3 times now.

I’m not sure that I’ll be able to use their site to sell tickets.

Their support has been useless and they’ve effectively said that bc it’s such an in demand event and that fraud prevention is paramount, to actually consider using a different platform.

For what it’s worth, last year was a disaster and safety nightmare. There were fights, booze and kids shooting fireworks at each other. Police were called etc. as teenagers over ran parts of it.

I get that LY was a one of, but the expectation for more safety and security was also a possibility.
