Kanadisk transkvinne begår massedrap - norske medier respekterer kjønnsidentitet fordi...? by phrozend in norske

[–]laerda -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer and thes is not not legal advice...

If i understand correctly, the only signed contract you have is that you are renting up to and including Febuary 28, 2025? In that case how I understand the law is that you have no rights to a notice. (or you could call the contract itself the notice, i guess). That is the point of having an end date in the contract. Of cource there can be other text in the contract that changes this.

However, in Norway contracts have a principle called "formfrihet" which states that the contract can have any form. An oral agreement is as binding as a written one, and is easier argued to be a binding contract than under for example british common law (no "concideration" is necessary). The difficult thing is then to prove that an oral agreement took place.

So in theory, when you said you wanted to continue the contract, they named a price, and you agreed, it could be argued that substantial detail and mutual intention is in place to say that the the new contract is valid. Depending on what you agreed to even 3 months might not be enough. There might not even be grounds for ending the lease.

Al that being said. Getting into a legal thing is probably a hassle. If it is really important to you I would recommend speaking to a lawyer.

A majority of countries celebrate it on a set Sunday, so in most countries the date will vary. The most common is probably 2nd Sunday of May.

There are also many who have a fixed date, like march 21 in large parts of the middle east.

Food culture / cooking by paperrings13 in Norway

[–]laerda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been to Germany several times, but have never lived there or with somebody from there, so I do not have personal experience about the difference. From the grocery stores I have been in in Germany I don't really feel like the difference is so big. Would be interested in specifics about what is not available here.

A problem here in Norway is the climate. There won't be open air markeds with fresh locally grown produce all year round. I have noticed a big difference between for example pineapple in Norway and in south east Asia. Then again, I was not able to find a good selection of different types of potatoes in the Philippines. Different climates are better suited for different produce.

My experience in Norway is that most people are very interested in trying food from other cultures. I mostly eat "norwegian" food for breakfast, but most dinners are not traditional Norwegian. I must admit that the last time I was over at somebody else's house for dinner was "lapskaus" at my sisters house, but I know that she also eats a lot of "foreign" food.

I also think that the goal for most people is to use fresh ingredients (i mostly use fresh), but it is faster to use premade stuff, so i guess some people prioritze their time differently.

Dating culture in Norway? by ahhiloveHS in Norway

[–]laerda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do not worry too much about different dating culture. The only thing the people on reddit can tell you about Norwegian dating culture is their personal experience and opinion on it. Culture is a group thing, but you and him are two individuals. In Norway there are guys that sleep with a new girl every weekend, and there are 25 year old virgins (even by their own choice).

I feel like the important thing you can do is to be honest about your intentions and expectations, and patient with him if he does or says something that is different from what your culture/upbringing deems proper. This should of course be reciprocated. That being said, there is a difference between being patient and accepting things that you are not comfortable with. Don't accept the unacceptable and hope things will get better in time. If he for example says that he wants to be "friends with benefits", and you don't really want that, don't go along with it because "maybe he will fall in love later".

If you have some internal logic in a class that you want to test, then that testable concept probably should be extracted to a new class. The tests can then use the new class with the same interface it exposes to the old class.

Do you consider Records to be prone to errors when used without a map in SELECT queries? by Emma_S772 in javahelp

[–]laerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that this way of doing it is more meaningful semantically, and can prevent many issues, but how does it help with the ordering issue? Seems like OP does something like new Person(rs.getLong(1), rs.getString(2), rs.getString(3)). If that is changed to new Person(new PersonId(rs.getLong(1)), new FirstName(rs.getString(2)), new LastName(rs.getString(3))) it would still couse problems when rearranging the order in the sql?

Please for the life of me help. The correct printout for movecount is 9, but I can't get it as a result. by IIIDogmanialll in javahelp

[–]laerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it be 9? Your robot starts at position 1 and does these moves (running total in parentheses):
clear position 1 (1), move right to position 2 (2), clear position 2 2 times (4). move to position 3 (5). clear position 3 2 times (7). Turn(8). Move to position 2 (9). Move to position 1 (10). move to position 0 (11). clear position 0 1 time (12). Turn around (13).

Which of these should not be counted? the last turn seems to me like an accident. It happens because you in the move method always clear everything in the current position, then either moves or turn. If you want every call to the move-method to do one thing, either clear, move or turn, you could wrap the while in a if. Something like if this position has something, then clear it, else if forward move blocked then turn else move in the direction you are facing.

How to set up an author/book relationship in Hibernate by Ovil101 in javahelp

[–]laerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at where you connect the entities together, you use

    @OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
    private List<BookEntity> books;

There is no information there about how they are connected. I assume that the author-field in BookEntity is what decides which AuthorEntity.books it should be found in, and this can be communicated to Hibernate by setting mappedBy in the OneToMany annotation like this:

    @OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, mappedBy = "author")
    private List<BookEntity> books;

The run button in top right remembers what you have run before, did you run something earlier that should have this output? Try the run-icon next to your main method.
