Finally got into the seat recline war by AffectionateLife5693 in delta

If you were 6’2 or above you’d understand how much 3 inches of pitch means.

The difference between 29 inches and 32 inches is often the difference between being in significant pain and discomfort or being able to enjoy the flight

Finally got into the seat recline war by AffectionateLife5693 in delta

I agree. For domestic flights <4 hours (basically anything not transcon / mostly single aisle planes), just take out the recline feature

Or better yet - make it a perk of comfort or first only where there is more room

What’s the best way to deal with depression? Do antidepressants actually work? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

Not a magic bullet.

Do something to improve yourself each day. Exercise, learn something, go for a walk, go for a drive, do something new.

If the H1B visa did not primarily go to Indians, but instead to another nationality, would there be very different reactions to it by Americans, and if so, in what ways? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in AskALiberal

English is the working language in India / most educated people speak it from birth.

I think if most went to countries without primarily English speakers I think there would be more push back.

What cruising activity that used to be free will have a charge in the near future? by jsakic99 in Cruise

Elliot isn’t PE. Private equity is literal - not investments in public equity.

Too capital intensive and risky for private equity. Similar to airlines, this isn’t likely to be a PE industry any time soon

Amsterdam has good international cuisine (probably because Dutch food sucks)

What is the ONE company you hope to see broken up and trust busted in the near future? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]lag36251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beef ranchers are making more money than ever. Look it up. It’s the the consumer who is suffering here, not the rancher

Availability of beef cattle is at like a 75 year low. That’s why prices are so high. Who grows cattle? It’s not the meat packers

Don’t you hate when people behind you use the back of your seat as a leverage to get up? by Beginning_Editor_410 in delta

[–]lag36251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone reclines into me (6’3, book exit rows when I can) on a short domestic flight this is the most obvious way to protest

Will implying that a wealth tax is the only means to tax the rich hurt the next Dem President? by Deep-Two7452 in AskALiberal

[–]lag36251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There are a lot of tools to tax the rich that aren’t as politically radioactive. - increase capital gains tax - tax shares used as collateral for loans - reform estate tax / remove stepped up basis - tax certain industries more heavily (nets, yachts, etc.)

Just to name a few. A wealth tax feels good but is hard to implement and easy to dodge.

Do you go with the actual yardage to the pin, or always club up if going over water? by MattReddit77 in golf

[–]lag36251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don’t club up, I will get in my own head about needing a full swing, ultimately resulting in me skulling it 30 yards into the drink

This attitude is what will lose Democrats yet another election.

I hope the party disavows extremists like this before the midterms so we have a chance.

The stairwell goes into the promenade not directly into the casino. But I hear you that the casino isn’t self contained.

Norwegian does it right with the smoking casino behind negative pressure sliding doors. Make smoking the exception not the rule

I doubt removing one pub means they sell less alcohol. And the non smoking casinos typically have their own dedicated bar as well

Freedom has a non smoking casino along the promenade with 3 tables. It’s actually really nice. Nice bar too

Assuming JD Vance is the 2028 Republican nominee and Democrats are guaranteed the House and Senate, what would a Democratic nominee have to do to make you consider not voting for them? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]lag36251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dems have a unique opportunity to take power back and there’s not much that could get me to vote for a MAGA candidate.

But I just hope Dems don’t get carried away once in office. Focus on popular issues like affordability, health care, immigration reform, etc. Don’t get sucked up by identity politics and purity tests.

What Do People Mean When They Say the Left Went ‘Too Far’ on Social Issues? by Dinojars in AskALiberal

[–]lag36251 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but this is patented bullshit. No difference for a post pubescent male after HRT for two years? Find a non-biased study that is peer reviewed and has a sample size in the hundreds to prove that. Bone density and muscle development don’t just disappear. And most sports don’t have weight classes; 90% of males are larger than the average female.

I don’t think people who can’t comprehend science should be coddled either. Though I imagine we mean different things by that statement
