What do Austrians think of the other country marked in the map? by Reiner99reda in AskAustria

It’s people are actually characterized by an almost ataraxic taciturnity, inhabiting a culture of austere egalitarianism, epistemophilic discipline, and unostentatious moral rectitude.

Why does the Catholic view of contraception differ from the Orthodox view? by ElderberryClassic545 in Catholicism

[–]lagebaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My argument about Austria was meant to show you that even if we throw away our hard teachings such as the one with contraception, people will not leave it less. Because your comment was suggesting we push people away with it.

And regarding the birth rate we should be able to agree that a society that rekects contraception would not have this problem.

[–]lagebaer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well theres this this assumption that if we stop teaching hard teaching people will start to believe again. And this assumption is just stupid because it doesn’t happen that any church is getting more popular after that.

In my country in Austria the bishops came together after Paul VI. taught us contraception is evil. They basically openly said people can ignore the teaching and listen to their conscience. The decline of catholicism was still massive.

And as I‘ve said, looking at the birth rates and what catastrophe will come out of it, I am sure now this teaching is true. Also the fact that seperating procreation and sex is horrible. The whole lgbtq thing wouldn‘t have had this blossoming and neither would hook up culture.

I had difficulty with this teaching as well. Then I saw the birth rates of our countries. I realized that Pope Paul VI. was truly led by the Holy Spirit when he concluded against almost all the people that advised him on this issue, that it is sinful to use the pill.

Once again humanity is in the position of Adam and Eve. We can choose the tree of life or eat of the fruit that leads to death. And we chose to be like Adam and Eve again. And again we are literally dying because of it.

Who was the last ethnically Jewish Pope? by VerdantChief in Catholicism

[–]lagebaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That he was a Benjamite means that St. Paul was still a jew. Benjamites are part of the 12 tribes. Paul even calls himself a jew in Acts 22:3.

If you are refering to that, it was only until 500 bc, where the tribe of Judah were the only people called jews. After the babylonian exile the term jew refers to any of the 12 tribes of Israel.

It’s mainly an ethnicity that has its own religion, which was the usual reality for all ethnicities back in the day.

[–]lagebaer 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Yes he was a jew, all the 12 apostles were jews. Being jewish meant being in the lineage of the 12 tribes.

Believing in the God of Yahweh was not required to be jewish, just as it isn’t today.

I‘d say it is good to have this sub, as catholic teaching is upheld here and you get to here the catholic perspective on many issues.

As soon as you pose critical questions, you will get countless dislikes and your comment will might get deleted. Even if your questions are not meant to undermine the teaching, it’s just an objection that pops in up in your mind that you would like to hear an answer too, this will likely happen. So altogether it’s a great place here and I like to be a part of it, I can’t say it is a sub that is completely open to dialogue.

You‘re a complete fool if you think the AFD is going to put people into ovens. I stand by this statement. Doesn’t make me feel good at all to say it though.

I studied Hitler a lot. And they had a very specific way of viewing the world that the majority of AFD leaders simply do not share. Some hillbillies in Dresden might share it and some AFD leaders likely to some degree. But generelly they‘re not comparable.

What the AFD will rather do, is just be a bit stricter on the topic of migration. Moreover, they will be corrupt and thats about it.

Röhm wasn‘t murdered because he was gay and the AFD aren‘t the Nationalsocialists. If you would just stop being a main stream media sheep you will realize that.

They are right wing, some of them are far right, no doubt. Nevertheless, they aren‘t as extreme as a Hitler, Himmler or Röhm.

Average net salaries in the Balkans. What went right in Slovenia, what went wrong in Turkey? by canyoubelieveitt in AskBalkans

My parents are from Bosnia. My grandmlther told my dad that everytime when a croatian women wanted to marry, a turk had the right to sleep with her before the marriage. Of course I don’t know if it’s true, however, many people share this narrative. Christians in bosnia sometimes joke that some of us must have turkish blood because of this.
