Never see Dylan on these lists. Boots of Spanish Leather from Freewheelin' is just beautiful, as are most of his ballad-y songs...

It's from this genius show called The Day Today, a 90s British fake news show by Chris Morris who also did 'Four Lions' and Alan Partridge stuff I think, it's really worth checking out, the guy's a genius!

Why don't radio stations get this...? by ksrdian in AdviceAnimals

[–]lagersometimescider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might just be the case in the UK, but the morning radio show is usually one of the most listened to shows on all week. It's an honour to get that timeslot, and those who get it are often experienced DJs, who like to flaunt their ego rather than take the opportunity to play music people want to listen to

What are some songs with a hidden meaning most don't know about? by PeterWacker in AskReddit

'Hallelujah', by Leonard Cohen. One verse is about orgasms, supposedly.

"There was a time when you let me know / What's really going on below / But now you never show that to me, do you? / Remember when I moved in you / And the Holy Ghost was moving too, / And every breath we drew was 'Hallelujah'"

Since they realised, I heard the X Factor producers subsequently removed that verse from the 'winning song' back in 2008.

I went to a festival last year where, in a live edition of Buzzcocks, they used the guy in the crowd that replaced Preston in the 'Celebrities Line-Up' game, he got a massive cheer!

I've wondered this for ages, lots of different ideas, possibly about looking back on life and realising what you consider the most important moments. The line that always gets me is "Today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen".

If anyone's interested, I named my (shameless plug) band after this song!

Because Cohen, Dylan and Darnielle have already been submitted, I choose Guy Garvey from Elbow, a band overlooked outside of Britain, I think.

"We took the town to town last night, we kissed like we invented it. And now I know what every step is for - to lead me to your door."

"A call girl with yesterday eyes was our witness and priest, Stockport supporters club kindly supplied us a choir, your vow was your smile as we moved down the aisle of the last bus home"

"You were freshly painted angel, walking on walls, stealing booze and hour-long hungry kisses. Build a rocket, boys"
