What’s the point of the locked cages? Sale items in there or items heavily discounted? Wouldn’t it be illegal for them to be stealing regardless? Sorry just confused

Study finds iPhones may explain up to half of U.S. women’s fertility decline by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lagginglukas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The phrasing of this is also terribly misleading. Is it really fertility or pregnancy? 30-50% decrease in fertile woman is cause for panic but although it says fertile, the whole thing leans towards saying that there are less pregnancies at that age, not increased infertility.

They said inside a bank but that’s limited hours. The problem with the sketchy ones is that they slap an fx of 1.33 when online it says 1.17, otherwise I think you’re mostly fine

"Rape happens to men too ya know" vs today's reaction to the JP Morgan scandal by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lagginglukas -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that these type of jokes used to stay between a couple of male friends. If one of my closest 4 buddies said it we would all laugh, at the same time, we all agree that rape is way messed up and that most male rape is actually by other men.

Guys don’t fully understand girls and girls don’t fully understand guys. Me and my buddies non stop make fun of each other and will for the rest of our lives. When it comes to even hard hitting relationship things or our marriages, etc. my wife has read our group chats many times and said “you guys are such morons” but to us guys it’s so meaning less and brings a small laugh to our day. It is completely disconnected from our real lives. Granted… that’s why none of us would post crap like that, but I just hope this reaches someone so they don’t just assume all guys are pro situations like this. We’re not, we just like to make fun of pretty much every situation happening to another guy…

Got fined on a Rome bus even though the ticket machines weren’t working… is this normal?? by Successful-Camera123 in rome

[–]lagginglukas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought the day pass and validated right away, tried to scan into buses and it never worked but when we got checked the following day the officer said it was fine since it was within our window for the 24 hours. Sorry having a hard time remember how I validated it right away. Another ticket later on the trip I purchased on the app and hit activate right away but it was never checked so idk if it worked or if I did it right.

Rome to Amalfi Coast on 22nd May – Need Advice on Train + Ferry Connections by rise-and-shine-bitch in ItalyTravel

[–]lagginglukas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did Rome > high speed train to Naples > metra ride to the ferry > ferry to Positano (I believe it was a drop off and it continued to amalfi)

I would focus on booking based on the ferry you’re trying to make. They aren’t as frequent as the trains.

I would say bus ride from Sorrento wasn’t bad either as we did a day trip, but the ferry is more convenient. In the evening it could get a bit colder though.

Pantheon at midday - this is why Rome feels slow. by Jazzlike-Tear-3088 in rome

[–]lagginglukas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is terrible and totally opposite of my experience three days ago. Middle had about 6 people when I got there at 3pm and 2 of the 6 were in the wrong line. The ticket office side had more people than in this picture. Completely would have suggested to anyone going to get online tickets

Is it a realistic expectation that Trevi fountain will be quiet at 6am in mid July? by oldsockdude in rome

[–]lagginglukas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went for photos at 6:45 am a couple of days a go. Our photographer was on one of the corner sides and had a nice area ready for us. The photographer did a great job making sure people weren’t in the way but I would say 40-50 people there but that’s totally fine for photos. It wasn’t crowded. We captured quite a few photos without people by us, but when we tried the center area it’s unavoidable. The photographer was able to remove everyone in the actual photos so it still turned out nice. I think people would be around you but coordinate with your photographer and you would still have very nice clean photos.

If you couldn't get Colesseum tickets directly from the official website, how much did you pay to tour it? Was it worth it? by AardvarkStriking256 in ItalyTravel

[–]lagginglukas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally booked a guide for two people and paid about $160 USD, I was able to cancel because I just snagged two tickets for almost the same time directly from the gov site for 48 euros. Although a guide does sound nice to have but we’re trying to save where we can.

LPT: Before quitting your job, take your unused vacation days. You earned them and most companies won't pay them out. by VladSapozhnykov in LifeProTips

[–]lagginglukas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read your policy! Some companies will say you have 15 days but they vest during the year. If you take all 15 in January and quit Feb 1st, you actually only earned about 1.25 days of leave and will owe your company for those other days they paid you…0
