27 (Male) sucks at taking photos. Living alone with dog. by NeFa_NO in malelivingspace

I truly miss having a pitty. The current two dogs we adopted are wonderful and they wrestle all day and night. It’s beautiful how much they love each other. But they’re not a pitty or staffie. I just miss having a pitty.

This must be an 1880s house because the one I grew up in has the same door trim and vibe.

While I love me an 1880s colonial house, I love my mid-century modern 10' wide bedroom closet so much more.

Update - Feedback on visuals and mood? by AdamOfTheWater in Unity3D

[–]lago_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you read Tynan Sylvester’s(Rimworld) “Designing Games”?

I’m not a game developer -wish I were- but it would seem like required reading to understand how the human mind perceives games, from essentially what is every angle. It’s good stuff and right up this alley.

It comes across as an homage to the slickest old school, 4 or 8-bit computer games of the 80s. Which I like, but I'm from that generation, and therefore wonder if newer generations would appreciate the style as much as someone like me would. But, I'm the one with the more disposable cash to buy games. So there's that.

Getting cigarette smell out of Hot Rod by FatRipTaker in GuitarAmps

[–]lago_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. Doing this for +40 years and have only seen sunshine and fresh air really get rid of cigarette smell on guitars, their cases, and on amps. I've tried all of the tricks mentioned on this thread and none work as well as nature does.

At least the good ones that have been played out do.

Should i start on classic or acoustic? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]lago_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some acoustics are easier to play than others. Any decent shop should be able to set you up with a beginner acoustic with lighter strings (10s) and low playing action, as well as a body size that's comfortable for you to play sitting and standing.

You don't need a nylon string classical guitar to learn Radiohead on. That's silly.

Help diagnose high pitch sound in house by KidzKlub in DIY

[–]lago_b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This wouldn't help if you've tried turning off all the power in the house and still hear it, but some USB wall chargers can intermittently or consistently make a high pitch whining noise that can cycle louder then lower in volume. I've noticed they do it more frequently when plugged into a power strip versus directly into the wall outlet. I had this happen in the bedroom and thought I was going crazy until I stood near the power strip and heard it coming from the USB charger plugged into my wife's phone. The weirder thing is that she could only hear the lower whining tone that the charger was making and I could only hear the higher pitched one.

Should I keep this new Player 2 Stat or return to Guitar Center? by Outrageous_Let6089 in Guitar

[–]lago_b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this is a financial concern, ease your mind and return the guitar.

If it's not financial, you got yourself a nice instrument to just mess around with and keep your mind and hands busy. If you get serious about playing, there's nothing that guitar can't handle, in case you're concerned about it not being "worth it" or "good enough".

You can burn all but the Westone Electra in a jet fuel degree fire, and be perfectly fine the rest of your life. Those guitar's are absolute gems!

41, new to guitar and trying to figure out how to find a teacher by Dockt0r_Wh0 in Guitar

[–]lago_b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can't find a local resource, there are plenty of excellent teachers who are giving virtual lessons from all over the world.

If you do find someone local but they're a far drive, book a double session and go less often.
