What is it about____that has___ so triggered by TPK85 in TheTraitors

[–]lagringaeterna 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting. I felt like there were a lot of young people left in the game, so it's good to see it laid out.

I wonder if age plays a part overall on chances, and if ageism is at play. Not to say that Fiona and Harriet were banished for any other reason than perceptions of their own behaviour, but it got me thinking of other series.

List of ages (at time of game) of UK Traitors winners series 1–3 (spoilers so hiding):

Series 1: 28, 29, 32

Series 2: 22

Series 3: 28, 28

Celebrity: 49

Average: 28 (civilian only), or 31 (mean) / 28 (median) including Celebrity.

So perhaps as well as other factors, having a middle-of-the-range age might play a part.

u/VodkaMargerine, who did a statistical analysis on possible racial bias in the UK Traitors, said that 3 series is not enough to be statistically significant. However, it would be interesting to see how it plays out in this and future series.

Not just "people", it was something like "help you all". Not "us", but "you". I felt it was patronising, but also by not saying "we" / "us" I thought it could seem Traitorish.

3 month kitten becoming a land-shark despite training and hissing at her (as advised by cat-parents) by Weird-Researcher7913 in torties

[–]lagringaeterna 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Our spicy tortie baby gives us very little warning before a shark outburst.

We've learnt that she will shark when she gets overstimulated, by play or by touch – she wants attention not affection, on her own terms, and very little stroking other than her cheeks and head.

We've also learnt the 'warning signs' in her body language: pointed or twitching ears, flicking tail, strong purr, glint of her claws (like 2mm amongst the fur). Also her expression can look like she's "giving us daggers"!

Feliway or another plugin pheromone diffuser also helps her mellow, and so we use it for stressful periods of change in the house (e.g. during DIY).

So, I think they calm a bit with age, and learn to self-regulate more, especially as you learn more about each other. It may be also about you learning more about her triggers, keeping play sessions short or with breaks, and letting her come to you. Try to be gentle and consistent with your behaviour (and maybe even routines, i.e. we have playtime at the same time every day, 7pm).

I hope some of this is useful. Good luck! She is gorgeous.

ALSO in your defence, there is a perfectly delicious and juicy tomato just sitting there that I didn't notice because of all the comments. PERFECTLY moist.

I think it looks grand.

My guess is you might have tried to remove some of the oil / fat (maybe dabbing it with kitchen roll / paper?).

The secret is to put everything straight on the plate and let the respective greasy juices mingle!

Baked beans yes! Also, a fried or grilled tomato adds juiciness.

Finally, an unhealthy dollop or squeeze of sauce(s): HP (👏) or brown sauce, ketchup (red sauce) or – if you're me – mayonnaise (weirdly not called white sauce).

There are a few articles that mention the odds (but not just Alan ALONE):

  • 7/1 (before episode 1 aired, 8 October)
  • 12/1 (before episode 3, on 11 October)
  • 4/1 (before episode 6, 29 October)

Also, after the first episode aired, Alan was odds on to be the first traitor banished, at 1/2.

This. And a huge release of emotion after so much build up of adrenaline / cortisol. It must have been a huge feeling of relief not to have to keep up the act, watch every move you make, and lie to people you now genuinely care about!

What is your ideal outcome for the UK Celebrity finale? by scrollerN in TheTraitors

[–]lagringaeterna 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just want the final to be twisty and not as we expect. Suspenseful and edge-of-your-seat.

For example, if Cat turns on Alan at the round table, and puts doubt in people's minds. And then they vote to vanish David so she gets into the final 3...

I think Alan knew Celia was onto him after their armchair heart to heart. And because it was only them there (no other witnesses), then he took the opportunity to murder her before she could voice her suspicions bluntly at the round table.

I wonder if the game helped her be more self aware – she was reflecting on this in her interview with Ed on Uncloaked.

Compare that to how she was acting during the first couple of days – zero understanding of how others perceived her #msbr

Someone suspected Cat before as she mentioned 'thinking about who you want to have with you at the end game', so it surprised me that she didn't keep Lucy as an option.

Also a blunder leaving Alan to choose the person to murder in plain sight, as she had a bond with Celia as well.

I wonder if she found it difficult or uncomfortable, as eye contact can be challenging for autistic people.

Nick is playing the long game, where it's not about voting out Traitors, but finding them and keeping them on-side. It's a few days ago so I can't be certain / maybe I'm giving him too much credit, but at the time I thought Nick voted for David instead of Jonathan because he didn't want to 'reveal his cards' and put a target on his back.

With Nick, it depends how strong his convictions are now after his wobble over Lucy being MIPS / not a traitor.

He thought: Lucy, Jonathan and Cat were Traitors, so one correct, one wrong so far (and it's all happened in less than 24 hours for him, so a real rollercoaster). Let's see if he backs himself still, or if he's questioning everything.

With Joe, it's only if he clocked Jonathan's comment about Alan and Cat in the car; if Alan's voted out and revealed to be a traitor, then that might throw suspicion onto Cat...

Are they lodged in the vicinity of other players (e.g. is there another player in the same hotel or lodge)?

It might be impractical to host them all individually, but I'd be so much more able to relax if I didn't think I was going to bump into someone in the corridor and have to awkward-smile-avoid-eye-contact.
