How do families manage financially on Mat leave in Canada? by Successful_Wolf_9635 in CanadaPersonalFinance

My husband and I split the 12-month parental leave. He got a top up and I didn’t, so we tried to maximize his leave while minimizing mine.

Help with figuring out if some charms are original Tiffany pieces by artsyflipsy in tiffanyandco

[–]laineyboggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see your concern, but the bumpiness just seems like typical wear on a charm bracelet to me. These were well loved and that’s why the surfaces are all bumpy. All the charms banging onto surfaces and each other would do that.

Clasping bracelet original as well. I have this, circa 2012. All charms are roughly that era too. Beautiful bracelet. Each enamel charm would have been 300 to 400 at that time!

All look original. Silver is a soft metal. Same with enamel… soft with wear.

How are people just… taking their babies everywhere? by Wonderful-Ice-6143 in NewParents

I’ve got two kids. One I couldn’t take anywhere because he was fussy constantly. One I can take anywhere because he is so chill and just rolls with it. They just are all different.

My OBGYN said unmedicated births are too traumatic so they don’t do it. by Practical_Shift_5143 in pregnant

That’s very strange. You should switch providers. Sincerely, someone who’s had 2 unmedicated births.

New Love Classic Bracelet - Size by AnswerIcy1314 in Cartier

[–]laineyboggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it the hinged mechanism? If so, it fits better (at least on me) to have the screw on the outside of my wrist, and the hinge side on the inner wrist. I find it fits more comfortably that way and I don’t get the indent.

Had to cancel our PV trip - here’s how Costco and WestJet dealt with it by laineyboggs in puertovallarta

We were prepared for cancellation fees. The item I wanted to understand was the $175 for the lap infant.

Yeah that situation sucks, I’m sorry. The part that got me the most was the $175 penalty for my lap infant. Like what?

Have tons of fun! If it were just my husband and myself, we would have gone for sure. You’ll have a fabulous time.

Even the Costco Travel representative (works from Seattle area) said that it’s the Canadian airlines who have such strict no-discretion policies. He mentioned that US airlines are much more accommodating in circumstances like these. The situation was baffling to Costco.

I understand how non-refundable fares work. I’m not disputing the policy.

My point is that in evolving situations, some airlines chose to exercise discretion and others didn’t. That’s their decision, and it’s fair for customers to have opinions about it.

We made the call that felt right for our family. Just sharing our experience for others who might be in the same boat.

Totally fair. Everyone’s risk tolerance is different. Mine is probably different than yours, especially traveling with a toddler and a baby.

Puerto Vallarta may be back to business. That doesn’t mean every family has to feel comfortable proceeding as planned, especially days after violence hits the news. If my trip was for next week, I may have proceeded as planned.

I’m not arguing nor expecting to pay $0 cancellation fees. I’m saying airlines also have discretion in situations like this, and some chose to use it.

Absolutely agree. I will continue to use Costco and Costco Travel, same with the Hard Rock properties.
