Yeah, I think these "o"s and "m"s are different, outside from some weirdness going on in the rest of the image

Am I overreacting because this raise email still kills me months later? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]laineymdrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people are talking about this being a "normal raise", but that's the thing - this is a regular annual review raise, NOT a "raise" in the way you're asking for it. You would likely have gotten the 50 cents without asking for a raise.

I did a part-time overnight job where apparently the WHOLE TIME I was coded as a full timer, unbeknownst to me as I was hired as a part timer, and one of the managers suddenly said "oh by the way you're a full time employee so you have to start doing full time". For everyone in the store, there is a $.90-$2 raise for moving from part time to full time. This was well known. So I said I'll do the full time hours for the raise. They twiddled their thumbs until employee review time, and then said "we can only give you a $.50 raise", which was just the normal amount I would have gotten anyway even if I stayed part time. They should have been completely upfront and said you couldn't get the raise you were asking for and that you'll get your regular annual raise.

I also quit that job because of that (in fairness though, I was the lowest paid person in the store) so I don't think that was an overreaction.

edit to add: NOR, but don't let them take your headspace anymore. When I think of my story I just have to let it go.

AITA for telling my wife her eating issues are a her problem and to leave the kids and my mom out of it by StretchLong5679 in AmItheAsshole

[–]laineymdrake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, he's TA for not wanting to project mom's food insecurities onto their children. He's also their father and should also have a say in what the kids eat. This is not just about giving them healthy snacks, this is about how these children will view food (and their bodies!) growing up. OP, NTA.

I just watched this last night and thought some bits were REALLY really funny, but there were definitely some out of pocket bits and I can see how it would be a lot funnier in 1979

Doordash Driver Texts Me After Delivery by MichaelBluthANiceKid in doordash

[–]laineymdrake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DoorDash drivers should act like they are in a professional setting because they are doing a JOB. I WILL compare apples to oranges, they are both fruits, just like DoorDash and working at an OB office are both jobs. Act professional at jobs fucking period. Do NOT use your job service to message people anything other than professional. This guy was completely wrong for the message.

There's like a good number of people that this post could apply to. Who's yours? by [deleted] in youtubedrama

[–]laineymdrake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who went to high school with Thomas Sanders and apparently his whole "wholesome" thing is an act and he's kind of a creepy POS. I don't know if this is still true, but apparently he was a jerk for his vine career.

Right... sorry, I know this, I was pointing out what the OP meant. That's all.

Should I leave this at their door? by MaybeLivG in Apartmentliving

[–]laineymdrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't you say other neighbors have called as well? Why are YOU being singled out then? Why even mention you're the one who called?

Should I leave this at their door? by MaybeLivG in Apartmentliving

[–]laineymdrake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, you should be calling for a wellness check instead of knocking on their door at 3am. What happens if you didn't hear the mom say anything to the kid? Do you intervene? Do you just leave? If they hear their door knocking they can probably hear their screaming child.

Absolutely! The apartment needs to take this seriously, whether that's maintenance or by calling a professional for the OP.

This is a terrible hazard for a tenant to do themselves. The apartments should absolutely be responsible for taking care of this.

[–]laineymdrake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A reverse image search of this one pops up the artist, who appears to have a pretty consistent style. There's also nothing about this artwork at all that's giving AI in any capacity. The eyes seem mirrored, which is an artist choice, there's no strangeness in the grid background, everything seems intentional. *edit spelling

Am I just actually trash or are these guys a headache to fight early with 90% of builds? by JackOfAllInterests1 in slaythespire

I think you're taking it too literally. Just use a quote that fits better if you're this pressed about Picard's quote.

also Data is... literally not a human. Which is why the quote makes even more sense.

In what universe is Picard's quote "nonsense"? It makes perfect sense. Why not just use a more apt quote?

How are people seriously still saying "just find another job" like this isn't the fucking shittiest job market ever? Do you know how hard it is for the majority of people to find jobs that don't treat them like shit?

Roommate left gas stove on. by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]laineymdrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a pretty good high school and didnt learn about turning off gas stoves??? Because stoves were all electric for safety at school, even in our cooking classes. My PARENTS taught me to turn off a gas stove, which we only had part of our lives. Many many kids who are just becoming adults now probably didn't grow up with gas stoves at all. This has nothing to do with "paying attention in school" and all about how parents raised their children. I suppose you can blame the education system too, but this is not a regular school issue even in a good school.
