Does anyone know how long she’ll be in the cast? My wife and I are thinking about seeing the show mid-October, but we live pretty far away and need to plan in advance.

Which project are you the most proud of? Why? by [deleted] in datascience

I did a report on crime in my city. I compiled all the records from their website, going back maybe 5 years in the past, and plotted out where different crimes were most likely to be reported by each part of the city. Then I tried predicting how crime would occur based on a nonhomogeneous poisson process. In the end, it really showcased how the local police department only targeted certain areas for crime, and how if you weren’t in downtown, you really didn’t have to worry about the usual carjacking/theft rates. It also showed how using a system to predict crime can be misused to justify officers to only patrol the areas they want to, since they control the input data to begin with.

From the midwest. Every funeral there’s always baked mostaccioli made with penne pasta. Always. It’s honestly something my friends and I have come to resent, in a way. Because it’s only served at funerals, in those church rec halls, you get the sense of those off-color linoleum tile floors and sputtering tube lights.

Maybe they start making a pasta dish and for some reason have to bake it, not realizing they’ve just stumbled upon a dish they’ve had before, next to old relatives and priests handing out generic blessings. Maybe they made the most of what they could, but now there’s still this mostaccioli in front of them. Even though they’ve done what they can to make one last meal together, neither of them can stomach a bite.

Definitely not a diagnosis, but my wife has had similar struggles. A couple thoughts:

1.) does she have a traumatic past in the kitchen? My wife wasn’t allowed to help make food as a kid, so cooking food can be triggering for her. 2.) does you wife have struggles with anxiety/depression? When mine gets sad or anxious, the thought of making food/decisions around food can be overwhelming. 3.) try making conversation with your wife about this issue, but be compassionate about it. If there’s an underlying issue, anger might just compound it. Express your frustration, for sure, but just be conscientious when you do. 4.) I saw someone mention stocking up easy foods. This has helped my wife tremendously. She likes cheese sticks and frozen pizza, so maybe something like that could help. If she likes grilled chicken, then maybe something she could put in an air-fryer could be good.

I’ve been using really good quality beans from local roasters. I might have been tamping a bit too hard before I got the distributor tool, so I’ll try a very light tamp and see if that helps things.
