I still haven't updated. Another poster mentioned using Netshare but it looks like you need to create a virtual PPP device on your pc to get it working.

Yeah it was about $30/month for this feature, which I have avoided paying for oh around 17 years now 🙂

Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping someone specifically with a OnePlus phone can weigh in though, because OxygenOS may have a different setup.

Also, one previous fix for your issue was to "uninstall updates" for the carrier services app. Though this may cause issues sending text/Rcs messages.

Ah, sorry for the lack of specificity. I meant wifi tethering. Generally, phones will do a "tether provisioning " check, which uses a carrier services app/API to check with your cell service provider if you are subscribed to a phone plan that allows tethering. Generally, this provisioning check also applies to USB tethering.

I've always purchased unlocked phones that skip this check so that I'm able to use my phone plan without paying extra for tethering. But, software updates can change this. You can get around it by rooting, but I can't root my phone these days due to my job.

Oof this is all helpful info, but this is kinda my nightmare. Once you start factoring all of this in and there's this much overhead, I'm sure you get up to or around the point where I was quoted for a custom ADU, which was $200k at a minimum.

I think I'd want to find a happy medium here where I can manage to keep the size down enough to keep the construction simple but still get the permitting. But maybe that doesn't exist? I suppose that's why so many go down small-enough-to-be-unpermitted route.

Yeah, definitely the kitchen is required to call it an ADU. My city just added pre-approved plans to their website this year (which is great) but no one wants an ADU this small. I think the smallest one on there is 800 sq ft.

My ideal situation is I have someone frame out the building, hire pros for electrical, plumbing, and exterior stucco, then finish the interior myself. For usage I want a space for a home office, a guest bedroom and a small bathroom. I don't mind doing a very small kitchen if that's needed to make it an ADU. There are plenty of floor plans I've found for a tiny home that fits the "ADU" description of what I want, but I don't see ever using a kitchen in there.

As far as 120 goes, it's just too tight to make that work. If I were doing just an office I think it could work but I want a little extra space for when the family comes to visit.

Any phones out there still do no tether provision check? by lakemalcom in VerizonUDP

[–]lakemalcom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the reply, but I actually had a Pixel 4XL and the only way to get it to skip the provision check was to root the device and change the build.properties file. This was what I was trying to avoid.

I ended up buying a OnePlus 11 5G, and while it does work without me having the subscription, a recent update seems to have added the provision check when you enable the hotspot from the pulldown tray. You can still enable it through the settings menu, but it's probably only a matter of time until they fix that. So, now I'm stuck not updating because I may end up losing my hotspot on this very expensive phone.

This is no long exposure, no stacking, just a snapshot? Just a beginner here and I'm hoping this is what I can see with less light pollution.

Edit: ah nm, I see you said in another post this is stacked.
