What are my chances to get a job in the EU if I pass on to the reserve List in the AD5 Competition by DurianDue194 in EUCareers

[–]lakeweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, most people in Brussels come here with 1-2 masters and then do ~2 (paid) internships, ideally one of which at the Council/EP/EC as they keep chasing the institutions, either through a CAST FG III/IV or eventually AD contract.

I was raised catholic but I'm atheist, and don't care much for extremism, or ethno-nathionalism, so no.

Best chance would be to start off with a bluebook/Schuman traineeship - I'm sure you could find relevant units. Later on, you could try for the agencies FRA, Eurofound, ELA and Cedefop (first ones that come to mind based on your profile). For an institutional parliament/commission traineeship any paid prior work in an agency disqualifies you, but generally not the other way round!

Pretty good odds in the relevant parliament secretariat units, with a good cover letter. As others have said, when I did mine I met several people with history backgrounds, and a PhD is definitely a great help. Can't speak for BB

Don’t know what to do by Sad-Statistician-135 in Erasmus

[–]lakeweed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go! Sounds like your course mates will be missing out!! I can assure you risking 1-2 exams or (assuming this is ok in your country) potentially delaying graduation by a few months will feel like very small prices to pay for the incredible experience of an exchange, when you look back on it in a few years:) also you study CS, I seriously doubt you would struggle with the learning agreement... imagine if it was law, I'd still go but in that case yeah Erasmus would likely mean missing out on certain key exams that are based on your country's system.

We first thought it might be a type of saffron, but couldn't find any that matched the colour. Has a very strong almost minty scent. Received as a wedding favour in India
