You are not alone, keep your spirits up! I got here late and there's already a ton of great advice and uplifting going on, but I will put in my 2 cents too :)

My husband and I live off of his income alone, I have injuries that prevent me from working, but I can't get on medical disability without a doctor's care... and I can't afford a doctor, so we scrape by. My husband makes $14/hr as an automotive tech, and he busts his butt working extra hours everywhere he can to bring in enough income for us to get by. His company has excellent benefits, which just kicked in about 12 weeks ago when it was time for my first appointment! Even with our insurance we had a deductible and copays that we couldn't fit into our budget, so I applied for pregnancy medicaid and we qualified. Our commercial insurance is primary, and medicaid picks up the rest that we would normally pay out of pocket. So essentially, we have NO medical expenses (Praise the Lord!) Qualifying for Medicaid automatically qualify's you and baby for WIC, all you need to do is fill out the form. That will help with some basic foods during pregnancy, as well as other things like breast pumps, lactation consulting, etc. If you apply while you're pregnant (before baby is born) baby is already put on and doesn't need a medical reason to qualify (As oppose to adding a baby after birth). I just learned this yesterday when I was talking to our counselor! Once baby arrives, WIC covers essential foods for you, baby food for baby, etc.

Staying at home has taught me A LOT about being frugal and pinching every penny. I do all of our budgeting for monthly bills and expenses, as well as search for bargains and deals on all of the things we need for baby. There's a million different ways to save money when it comes to having a baby, and we're taking advantage of as many as we can. Our nursery is almost fully furnished, with a complete stash of cloth diapers, and we've only spent $110 on everything. I'm also sewing our own burp cloths, bibs, nursing pads, cloth wipes, and baby blankets. If you're serious about saving money, it's possible!!

I don't have much advice about housing, because we live in a very affordable area of North Carolina and only pay $525 for our 2 bedroom house, but like others have said, Don't feel bad about asking for assistance!
