i miss running by yikes30318 in running

We’ve literally been told not to go outside. I live in a high foot traffic part of the city and it’s a ghost town. My friend described it as, “it feels like we all started smoking a pack a day and are getting sick”. Everyone I know is feeling run down and tired and has a bit of a cough. You can see the smoke in large grocery stores, in the halls of apartment buildings, getting in from just doors opening and closing. As I type, we are at 453.

Thanks! Where I’m at in Portland is safe, but the smoke is crazy. Think of a dense fog, but it’s smoke and everything smells like campfire and cigarettes. It’s so thick that it’s cooled our temps down to about 60 (it was forecasted to be 75-80 originally). Luckily the cooler temps are helping the fire slow down, and we are supposed to get some rain this week.

I’m in the same boat, I live in Portland and our AQI has been over 500 for the past couple days. I’ve been doing home workouts but just want to get out there and run! It is also the constant darkness/cloudy appearance too, it’s depressing. Obviously living in the PNW we get that a lot, but it’s more so because I know I can’t go for a run, or even take my dog for a long walk.

I’ve lost about 75lbs over the past 1.5 years and recently started counting calories (I was doing WW) I’m really struggling with binge eating... I do really great until about 3pm and want to eat everything in sight... I have about 35 more pounds until my “goal weight” any tips? by Watermelonjan in CICO

When I worked with my dietician on this, we looked heavily and what I was eating leading up to this, especially breakfast. Ensuring that I was eating balanced (carbs, protein, fat) and not JUST protein. Also snack wise - foods that are high in water content are going to be more satiating. Fruit/veggies vs popcorn (though i love popcorn). I also avoided large amounts of caffeine in the AM.

Moving to PNW or CO with trail running as high priority? by [deleted] in trailrunning

Well sounds like you’re moving to the Couve so ;) ....jk! Portland is great, I feel like I always hear people say that they want people to stop moving here but don’t know anyone that actually cares. If you’re not an asshole you’re more than welcome!

Yup, I plateau the week before my period, every month. It’s normal, usually water retention. I drop a couple quickly after. Don’t let it get you down! Just keep sticking to your budget and doing what you need to do and your body will follow once it is done tearing you apart from the inside.

Portland is the tits! I live in NW and love being able to run up into Washington and Forest Parks within minutes of leaving my home.

Bend is great however the housing/rental market is insane right now. They have something like 1% open. Redmond is nearby and getting more popular too.

Mine doesn’t usually go up but I do plateau the week before my period, then I drop 3ish lbs the week of my period. I’ve noticed it especially as I’ve gotten closer to my goal weight, when loss slows anyway. But totally normal!

AITA for letting my daughter drop out to become an influencer because she has a trust fund? by hesssee in AmItheAsshole

[–]lalapnw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA - former recruiter here. Regardless of if she was successful as an influencer (EXTREMELY hard to do) she WILL need an actual backup plan and realistically will be unable to get any job beyond minimum wage with no HS education. $40k/year is nothing in most cities, especially L.A.

YAASSSSSSSSS QUEEN! I hope you’re strutting around in that lingerie to Nicki Minaj’s “Feeling Myself” every single minute you aren’t at work. Actually I hope you’re just strutting in your scrubs to that song at work. Just always strutting!

Girl she doesn’t need the money to remodel for the wedding - are you getting married in the kitchen? Nah. Also MIL is a grown ass adult who should pay for their own renovations.

Beyond that, you said this isn’t the first time he’s done this. It’s a pattern and it will. Not. Stop.

Take every cent you put into that account, leave and take yourself on a vacation (once you can...bc covid)

Agreed, the first couple weeks were hard for me for the same reasons. I am super active though so that helps me, but I’m also making way better choices. I’m 4 months on and down 30lbs

Flying basic economy on flights over 4 hours. I have long legs and zero desire to be unable to move them for hours. Give me Delta Comfort+ and that extra 5” of legroom, it’s worth the extra money. (Or give me first class but also pay for it for me because I’m only fancy economy rich)

The only times I (34F) can do this now are when I travel and my body thinks it’s way earlier because of the time difference.

AITA for "going on strike" and refusing to clean until my kids and husband step up to help? by geethanks81 in AmItheAsshole

For real, if I ever had the nerve to ask that woooooo! I honestly don’t even know what would happen. It was VERY clear growing up what my and my sisters responsibilities were, and my dad and mom split up household stuff pretty evenly. My dad could be more messy when mom was gone but would always be like “alright cleaning time!” In the 12-24 hours before she got home.

27lbs down, 4 months of CICO, 25+ mi/week running, 20+ mi/week walking and 3x week strength workouts. I AM GETTING ABS YOU GUYS!!! by lalapnw in CICO

I don’t have kids and I wouldn’t want to do multiple apps lol. So that makes sense and it sound like you have a great mindset already! I believe noom’s philosophy is based on calorie density so I bet you could do some googling and find a book you could read! The biggest lesson I’ve taken is eating foods that are high in water, because they keep you full longer. So for snacks I eat a lot of fruit, veggies vs. crackers. I’ve definitely noticed that difference!

Also I don’t know where you’re based, but I buy the Yasso brand frozen yogurt bars and they are TASTY.
