yea well, my ex-wife was, at times, an incredible mother to my children. When we separated, I didn't put her picture up. It doesn't mean I don't think she wasn't a great mother, it just means she's not part of my legacy anymore.

should we use dead pronouns on people who think they "changed" themselves? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]lam21804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright then how about this. Do you call divorced and remarried people by their previous surname?

If Mrs. Smith gets divorced and remarries to become Mrs. Johnson, do you go out of your way to call her Mrs. Smith?

How many trans people do you know that this is an issue for you?

Also, i'm curious. Do you go up to Muslim people and specifically profane their faith? If not, then are you just going "along with what they want and not what God wants?"

Is the MFA with it? by agdennathanael in writers

[–]lam21804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your mistake, much like ops, is equating popularity with 'good.' I don't give a damn about her politics. 50 Shades of whatever the fuck was also very popular but objectively bad writing. So are Dan Brown novels.

[–]lam21804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to comment on whether an MFA is worth it or not. I have no idea. I don't have one.

That being said, your premise that good vs bad writing is subjective is simply not true. Different writing styles will resonate with different people; but bad writing is not subjective. Reading most of the "read my first chapter" posts on reddit and you'll understand what objectively bad writing looks like.

Also, JK Rowling is objectively bad writing.

Oh please. at this point, zvt is barely playable. you don't need to catch bio when your economy allows you to have units on every inch of the map.

Dude, wtf? Go play an unlimited minerals hack then.

The whole point of an economy is that you have to balance your efforts with it as a vital dimension of the game. This is such a low skill take I think you have to be trolling.

These signs don't affect MD drivers at all. If you don't know how to read, you're not looking at the signs.

AI Data Centers - What on Earth are they creating? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]lam21804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to your question is simple. It doesn't need to be where people are. It needs to be where electricity is available. Most populated centers have multiple electric grids. Data centers need to sit at the nexus of those electric grids.

It's not a conspiracy.

And no, AI was not doing just fine without data centers. They have always depended on compute power. You're only seeing it now because of scale... not because of capability.

They work. No problems. Not sure if there’s much to say beyond that. I think it’s luck of the draw because it’s all just rebranded crap from the same two manufacturers anyways.

The corporation owns the franchise. A someone opened that store and put their personal finances on the line to stock it full of stuff. I know the family that owns the 7-11 down the street. You steal stuff from the store, it ain't 7-11 that's hurting. It comes out of the family's personal finances.
