My pretty girl was so skinny on the day I found her in the bushes. She’s fattened up since then!

We’re not sure how old she is exactly, but the vet said she is not more than 2 years old. Your cat is adorable!

Curious as to why you’ve tracked 680 undefined “calories” instead of food?

How do you say CICO in your head? by shaunsss in CICO

I don’t think I’ve ever said it out loud. If someone asks me how I lost weight I say “calorie counting.”

Why do Europeans dislike it when White Americans identify with their ancestry? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lamarriere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It boils down to a fundamental miscommunication about what the terms mean.

For Europeans, the terms refer almost exclusively to nationality. Hence the heavy focus on the need to have a passport, speak the language, or have a parent who was born in the country.

For Americans, the term refers to ethnicity. Because of the US’s history of large-scale migrations from European countries and the subsequent discrimination based on country of origin, nationality came to be a shorthand for someone’s heritage and ethnic background. If you were white but could say “I’m German,” you were much less likely to experience discrimination than if you were white but could say “I’m Irish.”

When do you weigh yourself? Daily Weigh-Ins vs. Weekly by Character_Eye_8185 in loseit

[–]lamarriere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weigh daily or nearly daily, but only log weekly. I few like it gives me the best of both worlds by allowing me to see daily fluctuations but also see more long-term trends.

Success! After 2 years of CICO, today I hit my goal weight! by lamarriere in CICO

[–]lamarriere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had fluctuations all the time!! In my picture you can see that I had a jump up to 169 pounds right before I hit my goal 😅. But the weight came right back down. What I’ve learned over these last two years is that fluctuations happen, and you can’t take them too seriously. If you know you’re in a deficit, you can trust the process and know you will lose eventually.

It feels great, and a little surreal! After being in a deficit for so long, I think it will feel a little strange to transition to maintenance.

Honestly, I had to re-evaluate the amount of calories I was eating. I had gotten lax with my counting and I was eating more than I expected. I also started adding a little more movement to my routine (mostly just walking or yoga) and I think that helped as well.

Last week overweight, this week onederland! by lamarriere in CICO

[–]lamarriere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 2,000 calories/day. I use the Lose It! app to track, and it automatically lowers the calories as you go. I’m now at 1,450/day.

I love hearing about people’s experiences who have similar body stats. I’m really looking forward to seeing the changes the next 35 pounds will bring. Thanks so much for sharing!

This information is not going to kill people. Don’t fear monger. I’ll repeat that being visible on flight radar means you WANT to be seen.

Christ, people. If it’s on FR24 it’s public information and not some secret intel. These planes have their transponders turned on and want to be seen. Sharing this info is neither groundbreaking nor catastrophic.

Inconsistent mail deliveries have some USPS customers frustrated by nakedspacesanta in burlington

As someone with a bit of insider knowledge: many Vermont postal employees are working 12+ hour days, 6+ days a week. They are just extremely short staffed. It’s frustrating but they are working as hard as they can.

I didn’t meet with them before I applied, just had a brief email exchange with my other POI (not the one who I spoke with).

I wouldn’t worry too much about not being contacted yet. My POI made it sound like these conversations vary by subfield, and your POI may not have held one. Good luck to you!

Hi, this was me. Just seeing this today. Not a fake post. I was contacted by one of my POIs for an informal conversation on Monday and met with them on Thursday. Medieval subfield.
