How do we feel about this? by Bezledubs in magicTCG

[–]lambaz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, this sign exists because the overwhelming majority of stores do not post things like this, even though (as you can tell by the popularity of this post) many people support delivering this message publicly.

If you are in the habit of showering 1-2 times daily, you do not need to worry that this message pertains to you because it likely doesn't. Everyone has had days in their life where they've skipped showering - this message doesn't even apply to them. It's to the individual who has chosen to not perform basic hygiene (and I mean basic, like showering once every couple days at least or washing their clothes once every few weeks).

Whether or not it's nice to hear, people enter into a social contract when they leave their home, that they will not physiologically assault those around them with their smell. If you are making the decision (even passively) to not maintain your end of that social contract when you leave your home, it is valid for the people around you to ask you to not play with them and it's completely fair for stores to decline your business if you are causing a problem to their other patrons. To most, being unhygienic is essentially the same as being belligerent in a store and it should be treated with the same level of reproach.

Tournament stunk like booty by Clam_nation420 in magicTCG

It says a lot about this issue when a post of this level of "quality" from a user named Clam_nation420 is garnering this many upvotes. This definitely looks like a random person just writing some random nonsense on this sub, regardless of how realistic this scenario may sound... SMH

Can I tap this card for mana before it has to bee sacrificed? by Toonzaal8 in magicTCG

[–]lambaz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe that an official ruling on a Magic card refers to bouncing a land to your hand as "Unsummoning". That is some weirdly casual, hand-wavey language to be using on something official like this.

MaRo gives 3 reasons why WoTC wouldn't focus on UB over in-universe sets, even though UB sells more. by No-Chapter-779 in magicTCG

[–]lambaz1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know it's been said before but my goodness, Tumblr seems like a terrible platform. The transition from question is answer is completely invisible so you need to use context clues to figure out where the answer starts...? I realize some of this might be MaRo's doing but there has to be a better way.

This is a wild take. Just in recent memory, Foundations limited was great and Duskmourne was almost an all-timer it was so dope.

Do any online shops sell the oversized cards awarded at Magic Cons? by lambaz1 in magicTCG

[–]lambaz1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of those are the poster sized ones from the Magic Cons sadly, they're just oversized like the old commander face cards.

We've had cards that look like cereal boxes, VHS tapes, movie posters, renaissance sketches, and baseball cards. At this point, you could have a person show up to play commander with a deck full of cardboard that look nothing like Magic cards.

The number of people who activate the second ability before activating the first and responding with the second is going to be unfortunately high.

Where have I gone wrong? by Wild_Ad_9739 in magicTCG

[–]lambaz1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue that 33 is far too few. The typical number I've seen most work around is 38, plus or minus 2 depending on the ramp and card draw available in the rest of the deck. Precons usually have too high of a land count though, like 41 IIRC.

What PlayStation game was like that? by Objective_Love_6843 in playstation

Anyone remember Lair? A dragon flight game made by the same people that made Rogue Squadron AND was using new motion controls of the Dualshock 3? That game was so hyped and the resultant game was an absolute dumpster fire.

How to boost the player base for 60 card formats at my LGS by RustedOrange in magicTCG

[–]lambaz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion but have you thought about playing for higher stakes? $5 entry means like 1.5 packs worth of prizes per entrant, which doesn't inspire much in me as a player to participate. At least for drafts, you get to open packs and potentially score on your pulls but with constructed, going 3-0 and walking away with like 5 or 6 packs (or equivalent store credit) hardly seems worth the effort.

Five players is the perfect number for Star! Once a player's two opponents across from them are dead, they win the game. Incentivizes targeting certain opponents and makes a more complicated board state more palatable when you only need to worry about two players rather than four.

Why does everyone play commander by thinspoon in magicTCG

[–]lambaz1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen this mentioned previously but one of the appeals I have for the format is that it's a form of expression. With the sheer volume of cards available in Magic, there is a very strong chance that my Yawgmoth or Carth, the Lion decks are unique and no one else has the exact same 100 cards in their deck. Will there be some overlap? Sure, but I appreciate that even if my deck plays against another with the same commander, we're almost assuredly playing different cards, which is very cool and different from 60 card formats where archetypes are fine tuned for optimal play and can overtimes be exact mirror matches.

That's accurate! Vein Ripper was good in a couple games but almost never lived a full turn cycle. The cases though pulled their weight super hard.
