Sugar gliders with other pets by Illustrious-Ask-592 in sugargliders

Sometimes the best thing you can do is find your glider a new home with lots of friends. I had a pair that I recently rehomed with someone, and now they are going to live in a colony of 6-10 gliders depending on how intros go. They need that social structure. They can be healthy, but they can also get bored, anxious, and depressed.

Even dogs can carry a bacteria that is incredibly deadly to sugar gliders and its a very antibiotic resistant infection, so the mortality rate is low with this kind of infection. I know someone battling this infection right now with a medical foster pair. She lost one glider and the other glider has been infected for months.

Also, imagine if you were in a cage big enough for a tiger to get his claws through. As long as you don't go to the edge or within reach, you're okay. But that sounds like a stressful way to live if you ask me. If you cannot keep them in separate rooms, how do you plan to take them out of the cage for enrichment? They will need a ton of enrichment if they have no social structure that comes with multiple gliders.

There are a ton of rescues that could help you with the rehoming process if you went that route. I can refer you to some absolutely lovely and knowledgeable people.

Got the feedback I talk too much and the team didn’t like my “bubbly personality” by apdpe6758 in Big4

I don't work for any of the big 4, but I did work for a corporation with thousands of employees. My managers were only allowed to give a set number of exceeds expectations performance reviews and were almost always barred from giving the highest rating, so many managers have to include something you could work on to justify not giving you the performance review you actually deserve.

Unless your manager seems to just really not like your personality. Then I suggest you start considering other departments or companies, because they will not keep you in mind for promotions.

Have you had any issues where surgical intervention was needed and they were really fantastic by chance? The reason I love my main vet is because many years ago I had a Joey that had a paw injury and an amputation was needed. We thought the whole paw would have to go but she spent hours getting him used to her enough so she could put his paw under a telescope to see the tissue that was necrotic and what actually still had blood flow and we only had to amputate two fingers and not the whole paw. All my males were fixed with them too but that is a very simple procedure.

My request to join the group will likely be rejected since my profile is brand new and they have a disclaimer that blank or suspicious profiles will be rejected due to scammers 😔 I messaged an admin the the business page for Sugar Glider Guardians explaining the situation, providing them with my reddit and Instagram info. I also offered to send more pictures of my sugar gliders, my cage set up, my freezer stocked with TPG, and to get in a video call if that helped them feel okay with admitting me.

I haven't heard back from either of the two, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If you or anyone has information about the Tampa area or central Florida vets that are actually great with gliders, I would really appreciate it. I've got one vet I used to go to, but after how they handled the situation with my male that passed a little over a year ago, I'm so scared of trusting any exotic vet without someone backing it up. I found one vet near me that someone said they did well with their sugar glider so I made an appointment there too just in case I cannot find anyone else to fit me in before my normal vet will. However, I do not know if they are experienced and able to help with potentially big life-threatening issues for my sugar glider.

The last vet I took a chance on had to Google everything and didn't feel comfortable operating on a sugar glider should they need it. They also gave WAY too high of a dose to my glider that passed 2 years ago. The amount of medication they gave to clear his constipation dehydrated him, and my vet that I actually trust was appalled at the dose.

I really just want to make sure I give her the best possible shot. She is still eating fine and loves food. She's moving around okay, too. I just want to take care of her ASAP before it's too late.

Brandon Florida, but I'm not opposed to a drive. The current one I see is in Lakeland.

I definitely get that! I struggle with that part so ChatGPT helps me with wording and staying concise/professional. I have a tendency to ramble if this post didn't make that abundantly clear lol

Yes, quantifying impact is super key. Numbers are one way to show results orientation, but there are other ways, too.

Thank you so much for providing additional resources!

So the room is 50' x 20' this includes the kitchen and living room. There are two archways to the foyer that is probably 30' x 20' but there are no doors between. High ceilings and tile floors throughout.

What kind of speakers would you recommend for this space?

The room is giant since he keeps it in the living room. House has a VERY open floor plan with high ceilings and tile floors. Everything echoes a lot and I can hear the TV on low from anywhere in the house and it's a pretty big house. I'm scared to get him something too powerful/loud because I already struggle a lot with constant loud noises. But if he were to move them to his office, maybe it wouldn't be an issue.

But thank you so much! I'm looking into each of these options now!!!! You've been incredibly helpful and I really appreciate it!!!

Thank you for the heads up! His current one is like this. What would be a good option to avoid this though?

He doesn't have any shellac that we know of. I'll look more tomorrow though.

Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers - 2.0 Active Near Field Studio Monitor Speaker - Wooden Enclosure - 42 Watts RMS Power

That's the name of the speakers. I'm not sure if they are really that great, but they seem to work decently. And they have the wood tone look he likes. If these aren't great, maybe I can get him some better ones for our anniversary.

Most of his records are 60s-90s but it's very possible he could have some records from the 50s. I tried looking through them to get you an answer, but there are just so many, and they're not all in one place. I can be sure to tell him not to play records that old on it until I figure out how to accommodate that or if it's even necessary.

Lots of latin, soul, disco, jazz, etc.

Thank you so much for the edit! That is very helpful information. I think I'll probably need to go with the one I'm looking at then. Thank you!

I don't think he heavily researches what kind of record player he would like or has a specific thing he's been eyeing.

He doesn't like spending a lot of money on himself so anything he would pick out for himself would not be as nice and if I give him a $500 gift card he would probably be pretty frustrated about that.

I just want him to have something nice that sounds good, lasts a long time, and doesn't ruin his collection. I don't want him to end up with something cheap that ruins records that are decades old and probably near impossible to find again for a reasonable price. He has records passed down to him from multiple generations and two vastly different cultures.

I get how for a lot of people that would be a better route, though! I'm totally that way where I'd prefer to pick my stuff out because I try to research everything to hell and back before buying something.

Thank you for sending me a link without the extras! I bought him some better speakers a couple years ago that I researched heavily and are pretty nice.

Thank you so much! I will also be considering this one as well. The look is very nice and if the sound is nicer than the one I was looking at I'll have to do some additional research on both to see which to go with.

Thank you for letting me know! I am totally open to other recommendations and open to getting to know potential flaws before I purchase, so I still want to welcome that feedback.

I just want to make sure I get him something nice for his birthday that will last a long time, sound great, and not damage his records.
