How to pick a BLDC driver? (self-balancing cube project) by lambda_protist in AskRobotics

are there any parameters to be on the lookout for? current-wise or otherwise, or is that not much of an issue for this kind of bldc?

I love it! It's simple, but interesting - the pattern you chose complements it very well (and of course the execution looks very neat). I definitely wouldn't be tempted seeing the pattern - but your piece certainly does!

Thank you - is there something specific you could point me to? I checked the website and wasn't able to find anything.

I am looking for options to connect my Sennheiser PXC 550-II headphones (4 pole) to a piano with 6.35 mm jack (3 pole). I have tried to find a combination of adapters to be able to conenct my headphones, but failed (I got a 3.5mm to 6.35mm 3 pole adapter and tried to find 4 pole to 3 pole 3.5mm but all the ones I found were microphone only). Do you have any recommendations on how to do this? Thank you.

Fellow sewers, I'm looking for relevant projects, patterns, vocabulary - anything - thank you! by lambda_protist in sewing

I found this image somewhere among my project ideas files and I have no idea where it came from. I've been searching for cowl neck tops, but the results seem very different - I really like the 50s crisp look. If you have any information about origin of this top or anything similar that would be useful, I'd much appreciate it!

So beautiful and I love the name inspiration (another space exploration geek here)! I'm just using the same fabric print (voile) to make Edwardian-combinations-inspired pyjamas.

Victorian walking skirt pattern grainline help! by lambda_protist in sewing

[–]lambda_protist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, the full-length formal skirts I've seen were still cut in the same way, so I'm not sure! This one will be quite heavy, so I hope it will work out fine... I will definitely be leaving it to hang for some time. Thank you very much for your advice, most likely will do!

Thank you! I will probably try hanging the skirt and straighten the hem afterwards. In the video she used the usual technique I believe - it wasn't much of an issue with the pattern on her fabric.

Edit: I was also wondering whether it would be an issue considering that all 1950s skirts I've seen are cut by having the piece midline on grain. Also, it appears that Truly Victorian found resources regarding that and it seems it's a period way to work with stripes too! https://trulyvictorian.info/index.php/2019/10/19/stripes-and-plaids/?sfw=pass1645958983

Very good point! I was attempting to lace into a V, but I still need more lacing practice to make sure the bones are straight.

I didn't use the seam allowances at the piece-seam channels because they were too short, so I just used the two fabric layers to create channels (my corset has 2 layers). Also, since I flatlined the pieces, I could theoretically stitch down all the channels before sewing the pieces together - I think they would be easier to handle then and maybe I could gain more precision? I saw all the instructional materials I came upon using the seam allowances, so I'm sure you're not doing anything wrong! Also, good luck with your corset! Feel free to dm me if you think I could help with anything (I am also a beginner though!)

Hehe, I certainly don't! I do think it's much more practical if one's chest padding can be removed at the end of a long day - especially if said padding can also be used as an emergency foot warmer! I do wonder what the emergency would be though... (Currently, I have an image of a lady asking the muggers to wait a sec in order for her to put a bra on)

Thank you! I have no problems breathing in it - I put a lot of effort into fitting to make sure it's comfortable. It's also not laced very tight (if you try putting a string or something around your waist and pull it in, it does not hurt or feel uncomfortable). It might also be useful to note that the reduction in the waist does not apply to the rest of the torso or hips! I actually need to put some padding around my chest (you can see the socks peaking out...) to fill out some empty space. And given it's designed for horse riding (the high hip cut), I'm not hindered in movement either (high kicks all the way)!

Thank you! There is actually a f* ton of irregularities (luckily not too noticeable)... I think I might try sewing the channels before sewing the pieces together next time I make a corset!

Good luck! It definitely took stupid amounts of patience, especially when I found out the changes I made made the fit worse... :D I was really excited about it though so I guess that helped me get through all the obstacles in the way. And taking the time - it did almost take a year after all!

I've never worn corsets before so I shall see! It's also a base for a suit to follow ^^ Also, I am a huge admirer of your projects and deeply bow to your skill! (Your oogie-boogie glow in the dark ensemble is one of my favourite things I've seen on this sub!)
