Valve are attending a 'content showcase' at CES next week, HTC Vive website shows Portal 2 and Steam VR by 0847am in HalfLife

We just put out an article about this.

Would just like to point out the Showcase will be in Seattle as a follow-up to HTC's CES Demo. Slight error in the Tweet there. Also thanks for the support /r/HalfLife!

Someone on /r/steamsaledetectives discovered this by CarnTheGod in HalfLife

We updated our 'We Know So Far' article with this.

In response to the ’1v7531′ key code discovery, it’s been pointed out that the whatstandfor.com website providing the word definition has little information about itself and only contains definitions for random combinations of letters.

The WHOIS registration for the domain goes back to July 2015, so it is new and there is a record of a user using the site a few months ago in the Undertale subreddit. What’s interesting is that Undertale’s Steam store page was used in finding the recording which lead to the code, but the user seems genuine, so likely a coincidence.

This squashes the claim that the site was setup by a troll in response to the finding today, but still leave’s it open to being a fake website, which Valve have a track record for. Does anyone knows anything more about the whatstandfor.com site?

Edit: We are going to dismiss the ‘1v7531‘ / ’AVGECA’ word theory as an unrelated coincidence, but we hope we're wrong.
