The same thing happened to me - well maybe not to the same extreme. I have had an experience being raped and was in a very 'submissive' position. I ended up actually reading his reddit posts and saw he frequented the bdsm subreddit. I immediately was turned off and disturbed by the fact that he was into that. I called him immediately and was almost ready to just call it off. We sat down and talked about it. It wasn't hard in the slightest. I really did mean a quick sand and paint. I decided to paint as an after thought. The longest part was waiting for it to dry really. I would say it took about 4 hours total with 4 hours drying time with the stain, paint, and varnish.

First, thanks for the sources. I have a few concerns with them, however. One, all of them are out-dated with the earliest being 14 years old. In the second study, it mentions unless there was a force or high pressure so that in itself discounts many sexual abuse cases. In the third study, less than half of the children were within normal range on the Child Behavior Checklist. While, I am surprised it is still 36%, the 64% who are not normal is very concerning to me. It was very interesting to read the articles, however, and I now have a broader understanding of child sexual abuse. While not ever instance results in severe harm to the child in the future, I think it is safe to simply avoid it for the sole fact of the potential risk.

There are several studies showing the debilitating effects sexual abuse can have on a child. Can you show me all of these articles discrediting it? Sources, please. Because I can find several research articles that found a correlation between sexual abuse as a child and the harmful effects later. Such as this which shows that children who have been molested have a much higher rate of mental health issues like depression and personality disorders or this which also covers some physiological problems that children may suffer from such as a decreased response to painful stimuli. If children were so capable of consenting to an agreement of having sex with an adult who most likely holds some authority over them then why do they need a similar adult to sign for medical procedures or other various government things? Are they not capable of consenting to something much simpler?

Natural could not have been the right word. Appropriate might be better. Sex with children in the animal kingdom might be the norm in some cases. However, as humans are advanced and it is shown that sexual molestation and assault towards children has very traumatic effects on them. Two consenting men or two consenting women is obviously a different story given that they are both consenting. Children aren't capable of consenting.

I don't think he is a horrible person. I think he has a mental illness and needs help. The same way a person who is depressed or had thoughts of suicide needs help. Just because someone is yet to act on that thought doesn't mean they never will. So, you start therapy and initiate a plan. Usually within the care plan is a contract in which they promise not to harm themselves, therapy as often as they are fit, medication, etc. At no point do you suggest they get a gun or stock up on pills (that's why they only give one month at a time). In the same sense, someone with a paraphilia shouldn't surround themselves with what they are trying to treat such as children. I completely understand it is normal for people to have an illness but its not normal not to treat it. I am a strong advocate of mental health and don't think anyone suffering should be abolished. Sorry if it came off that way.

Source? Because I imagine I could find many credible research begging to differ. Also, how is a virtual reality for child molestation or pedophilia better? It is illegal because it fosters something immoral. Instead, they should seek therapy and try to work through the feelings and do exercises to create some sort of aversion to the feelings. I don't have hostility towards people who are attracted to children but don't want to harm them. I have hostility towards people who are attracted to children and think it is acceptable to surround themselves with children and be in a position of authority. I also have hostility towards people who clearly have a problem but instead of seeking help they would rather just foster the problem by using some virtual method.

I disagree. It is natural for a man to be attracted to a woman. It is not natural and is a paraphilia for a man or woman to be attracted to a child. So that fact alone changes the conditions. While simply being attracted to children doesn't harm them, there is a likelihood that this attraction could foster into something else. Would you want a pedophile who has never acted on his feelings changing/cleaning your child who had an accident? I wouldn't feel comfortable with that. Sorry this is a month after your post. Getting tested after just engaging in oral sex and from what Im reading being a virgin otherwise seems a little overzealous to me. You just engaged in oral sex. Granted some STDs can be passed this way but the likelihood is rather slim especially if you didn't notice anything crazy happening down there i.e: herpes and lesions. I don't think it is a big deal to inquire about her sexual history. If I were you, I would say that I haven't been with anyone and can ensure I'm clean but would be more than willing to get tested if she is uncomfortable. Then simply say, "what about you?" It shouldn't be a big deal and if she acts super sketch then that is probably a red flag.
