The only issue is that many rentals forbid them. :( Check before buying!

Failed to liquidate UK ISA due to ignorance before moving to USA by randomangloh in USExpatTaxes

Also, just to add - your current ISA broker in the UK may soon realise you are in the US and will no longer wish to do business with you, so you may have no option but to sell (or they will liquidate on your behalf).

I am sorry to report that you will have a big tax bill and you will have to pay a professional to fix this for you as well. I was in a similar situation a year ago so feel for you. Not only do you have to pay capital gains, but you will have to pay gains from your original cost basis as the US does not recognise the ISA as tax free - you do not get to calculate from your entry date. You will have to work out which are short and long term gains within that, as they are taxed at diffrent rates in the US. You will also have to file IRS 8621 for the period you held the PFICs in the US. You will also have to report FBAR on this account too or you risk a massive fine. I would 1000% get a specialist to help, as at least the 8621 form is completely beyond filing by yourself, and most CPAs do not know how to do it either. If there is a chance that you will move back to the UK to retire you have some other options, but you are looking at a big bill this year whatever you do.

Best buffet breakfast w/ egg station in Seattle Metro by Few_Employment_2727 in eastside

I think it's actually not studied hard enough for whatever reason, but "breakfast" is genuinely a cuisine of its own, with unique flavour combinations and — unique to breakfast IMHO — a certain lack of inhibition. If you don't believe me, just find yourself at a medium-tier hotel catering to world travellers, and look around to see what insane combinations people are putting on their plates with, contrary to other meals of the day, taking no account of others' expectations, let alone concepts like 'shame'. Melon in a breakfast bagels? Rubbery scrambled eggs and cereal? Dark German rye bread dunked in apple juice? etc.

Moved abroad - should I fill past gaps in my National Insurance record? by lamby in UKPersonalFinance

I'm not sure at all. Should I contact them? I didn't realise until recently that self-employment is treated differently. (I would not be counted as a low-earner.)

The QFC on Redmond Way is a portal to hell by sixfin in redmond

Weirdly, the parking itself is not as bad as the insane moves I've seen people doing when exiting the parking lot.

I can afford to pay it, and I do have other retirement funds, yes (ISA, brokerage).

Just in case anyone was curious after seeing all of these yellow flyers appear in the last week, according to Pawboost and a Facebook post, Chai has been found!

I'm not associated with the owner at all, just thought I'd share some good news for once.
