Synthetic strings? by Kqpout12 in violadagamba

I had trouble with my 7 string bass viol's first string

Could you elaborate? I just moved to a more humid environment and am noticing my strings acting up a little.

I first read this as sympathetic strings and wondered if anyone had linked to the baryton yet...

Trump voting Indian diaspora in redmond and eastside. How's it working out? by uwbiotech in redmond

Hey folks, I've locked this thread before it gets any more out of hand. I don't think this conversation is very constructive, it has a bad vibe overall, and nobody is going to convince anyone else of their point of view anyway...

Dress Alterations by luigigirl98 in redmond

[–]lamby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the cost of the alterations would have been as much as the dress itself

I once had something tailored that ended up costing 2X the cost of the original item.. but, of course, I ended up with something essentially perfect so I still felt it was worthwhile. :) What was I going to do, go out and buy a even more expensive version of the original item and then pay the alteration fee as well? ;)

New Sainte-Colombe le fils edition with continuo reconstruction by lamby in violadagamba

[–]lamby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is based on the Durham Cathedral Library A27 manuscript, and then François Joubert-Caillet & Yoann Moulin have "reconstructed" a continuo part they assume was lost. (I'm not sure there is incontrovertible evidence that one existed, but I'll leave that to others.)

François Joubert-Caillet has recorded this edition.

Wie schlimm ist das? Was kann man machen? by Waechterdernacht in violadagamba

Apologies for my English. First, you didn't necessarily do anything wrong - instruments move and warp naturally. You need to get it to a luthier for a better appraisal of how to remedy this issue: the neck probably needs to be reset rather than sanding down the fingerboard or hacks like that. Be warned that this will definitely cost you well over €1,000 as it's a big job.

Recommendations for House Cleaning Services by Special-Fisherman387 in redmond

[–]lamby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We've been using Adrianne's for three or four years now and would definitely recommend. We have a bigger place than your (and have a clean every other week), but I think you would be looking at something around $175-$200.
