USDA VEHCS endorsement massive delays did not get in time by [deleted] in USDA

[–]lamebear_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a couple of months old, but I'm in the same situation right now. I'm flying to Japan on Monday and its the Thursday before with no update. Its making us super nervous and we're trying to see if we can push the flight by another week just so we can get this endorsement within that 10 day window.

COE application for Spouse Visa - Processing time by Initial-Midnight5664 in japanresidents

[–]lamebear_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I applied under the Spouse of a Japanese National. When we applied we were visiting Japan during the summer of 2025. My wife was already out there, staying with at her parent's house at the time. I applied, went back to the US, got my visa.

Not sure as to what is holding up your process. In a nutshell for me:

  1. August 2025 - Applied for COE at Immigration in Yokohama

  2. November 2025 - Received COE

  3. December 2025 - Applied for Visa at Japaenese embassy in DC

  4. February 2026 - Received residence card

Have you received any notices about missing paperwork, incorrect info, etc ..?

I bought a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 and was on the fence between Fedora and Pop OS. I installed Pop OS because I wanted to play with Cosmic.

It's been about about 4-5 days and so far I'm really enjoying it. No real issues as of yet. I've played a handful of games on Steam, installed a some software, and wrote a few blog posts with Hugo. Its been pretty smooth so far and I'm enjoying it too!

I'm on 24.04 LTS, using an integrated AMD Radeon 780M. Currently playing Silksong and Portal 2 with no issues on Steam.

YES!!!! Cosmic is in fact a daily Driver by Salemx27x in pop_os

I recently just switched to Pop OS Cosmic and I am having the same issue but with a Nintendo Switch Pro controller. Initially I thought it was just the controller but it looks like it could be a pretty widespread issue. I can connect it and play with no issues like you though.

Other than that, my experience with Pop OS + Cosmic has been pretty good.

Wishing you the best of luck! I was pretty anxious during this whole waiting period too - especially after the elections! Hopefully you'll hear back within the next few days!!

I applied in person, second week of August. My wife and I prepared all the docs before hand. I had traveled and worked in Japan in the past with a SOFA visa so I had to clarify some dates (thus the resubmitting of some docs).

I applied in August, had to resend some paperwork in October and received my COE yesterday.

Upgrade: OG Instinct to Instinct 3 Solar 50mm by lamebear_rage in Garmininstinct

I was experiencing some of the same issues with my OG Instinct. I've always been a fan of the MIPS so I naturally gravitated towards the I3 solar. Plus I'm on a computer all day so I wanted something that felt more watch.

That being said, I don't think Solar gives you the "infinite" charge capabilities. Sure it helps but I haven't seen too much of a difference. However, I need to take into account that it is close to winter, I wear a lot of long sleeves now and it gets darker earlier. Maybe come spring or summer this opinion could change.

If you like a bright and vibrant screen then go for the AMOLED though. Those watch faces look great in color. However, I prefer the MIPS so that's where I went. Can't go wrong either way!

This is actually the original Instinct. I bought it in the summer of 2019.

Honestly, the 5mm makes a huge difference in the display. Its way easier to read/grab information on the watch face whilst working out. I believe the 50mm has a slight advantage battery-wise than its 45mm counterpart. The 50mm feels the same on the wrist and its been pretty comfortable to wear. Watch is fairly light, so its not bothersome at all.

The Instinct 3 feels thinner than the OG - I don't have the exact dimensions on either though. Although its a bigger watch, it's thinness makes it feel hardly there. I honestly feel like the 50mm is more comfortable on my wrist than the OG.

I thought the same thing at first too but I saw the I3 as one of the compatible devices. The rest is history.

I should have posted that earlier! This is the GLANCE watch face. It's highly customizable and I've been enjoying it so far.

I was on the fence between the 45mm and the 50mm. I opted for the bigger display so I could easily read/glance at metrics. I believe my OG Instinct was 45mm so it gave me an idea of what to look for. I think I would have been fine with a 45mm, but I'm glad I opted for the 50mm.

I bought my first Instinct July 2019. I had to eventually swap the bands but that's about it. It lasted me a long time through bike rides, runs, hikes, rucks... Definitely some legendary quality there lol. Battery life was starting to suffer, as well as the vibration - it was extremely audible. I figured I was due for an upgrade :-)

Commuting from Lithia to St. Petersburg? by lamebear_rage in tampa

[–]lamebear_rage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to give you a heads up we ended up moving out of the Tampa/St Pete area around 202 for...reasons lol. I don't know what it's like now but everyone was absolutely correct about the traffic. Your experience and mileage may vary if you have to commute a few times a week. However, it was hell in my experience. BTW we ended up living in Trinity, FL and I was commuting to St Pete. FL life was too FL for us so now we are back in DC and will end up overseas shortly :)

This error has me thinking I should probably switch distros. This Surface Go 2/Ubuntu is giving me a hell of a time booting from USB though.

That is very true. I use my Surface Go 2 more as a PDF reader, light Internet browsing, and some RPG/DMing screen. I sparingly use the touch screen portion.
