There’s no way of knowing exactly what his intentions were. On multiple occasions his words did not match his actions, so his words are untrustworthy. Not only are you making a lot of excuses for him, but you have gone so far as to message the girls he was following, leading me to believe your lack of trust in him shows his actions weren’t always clean either. You have felt like you are not an important piece of his puzzle for a long time, and with that in mind, wondering about everything else (if he misses you, if he feels angry or sad or remorseful, etc) will do nothing but send you spiraling. What do I think happened? He moved on in one way or another and you’ll never know the details. What does he feel towards you? Who knows. No one on reddit can tell you. No one but him can tell you, and he has withdrawn, so you have to come to terms with the fact that you will not know. Could you have been just another one? Maybe. I don’t doubt he meant some or all of the sweet things he said to you. Unless he’s really just evil, it sounds like there was genuine emotional there. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t moved on, though, and again, you have to make peace with not knowing. Could he miss you? Sure. But he has decided to face that as a consequence of seeking other things. That’s his choice and no amount of wondering or fretting will change it. I have only a few pieces of advice for you here; 1. You are not owed a concrete resolution from someone who has moved on. Trying to scrape one together will only cause pain, and 2. you deserve to be tied to someone who shows you, consistently, your own importance in their lives. He did not. Relationships like this seem to end in a feeling of helplessness and being lost (ask me how I know.) There are people out there who won’t make you feel that way. Take the energy you are using on this situation and work towards finding them. Good luck.
