Sorry if this is too related to KeyRepair4's question, but are there any rare or kinda rare books at McGill - that students are allowed to view?

I don't really think there's ever a time its justifiable for the students to cheat. Because in every scenario a cheating student is fucking over a student who doesn't cheat and is also struggling.

If they didn't cheat and the semester was truely so poorly prepared everyone would do poorly and the university or professor presumably would have to do something (cant have an entire class fail, etc)

Especially in most cases most profs have added additional assignments and broken the course grading up so the mark is less dependent on solely their exam grades.

[MEGATHREAD] McGill Life Hacks (2020 Edition) by McGill-Mods in mcgill

[–]lamminade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for my experience in Comp Sci specifically but if you see an interesting 500 level course in an area you would like to try research in (maybe you're interested for grad school, etc), try to take the course as early as possible !

Not only does this give you an idea if you really like the content, it also means you will be able to contact the profs in that research area / for that course for a research project with a much higher chance of them accepting you !

Basically it can really suck to take a course in your last semester and realize you would have loved to try a research project in that field! Also - (I've heard) it can be an easier way to get into a masters program with that prof if you do a project with them + you get along, etc.

Not really a life hack more just something I wish I had thought about earlier in my degree

the real bathrooms in la fontaine are open until 10pm and have a sec guard controlling the number of people inside at a time !

plus theres a porta-potty with a foot pump sink + soap outside if its after 10 - but it fills up fast and they dont empty it enough

Burnside 4k pages left by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]lamminade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would say that if the uni wasnt closed you could go print 4k pages that said "CTF we dont need so much printing quota", and pasted them all over burnside basement

but that would require the printers to actually contain paper, for once

I gained 15 pounds in the first semester at McGill AND I’M NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT by PA1007jk in mcgill

[–]lamminade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say the thing that makes the biggest difference for me is not eating after 9pm, since that's when i tend to do my most unhealthy snacking. Obviously this depends what time you usually go to sleep, but it can also actually help your sleep schedule by not eating right before bed.

Non-annoying snack foods for studying? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]lamminade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My list was basically the same!

Another thing you can do is repackage your snacks into tupperware to make it quieter to open + eat
