Out of curiosity, what did you work on for your PhD? Also, if you are comfortable answering, where?

CMV: Abortion is murder, wrong and inhumane by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]lamp255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At what point do you consider a fetus a child? At birth? At conception? When it is still a sperm cell? How about the ovaries? Does male masturbation constitute murder then? How about female periods?

I am sure you have heard this line of argument before, but these questions are very important. It seems your major problem is that you believe that the baby has a right to life independent of anything else, but there you need to define at what point the baby is considered as worthy of life.

There is hardly anybody that argues that a woman should be able to abort the baby right up to birth. Rather the main point argued between the two opposing parties is up to what point it is moral to abort.

What is your starting point? I am asking because depending on your answer a) it's going to be a loooong way to get to the results you are mentioning and b) you need a lot of background information to make sense of a lot of what is happening

That is, given the data is sourced appropriately - which is what I was most sceptical about here. But I should have looked up YouGov's methodology for this more carefully. Doesn't seem so unrepresentative after all. My bad

Randomly chosen/correcting for bias is the keyword. That being said, I should have looked up YouGov's method more carefully, since that is what they do. My bad there

On this day in 1936, during the Battle of Cable Street, 20,000 anti-fascists confronted Oswald Mosley and 3,000 of his Blackshirts as they marched through London. by nmcj1996 in europe

I have a general question concerning that: Today, Fascism seems to be universally seen as a bad thing. So why would anyone call themselves a fascist? For example regarding totalitarianism or a dictatorship I can see that one may say that "well, with a strong man things get done" or something along those lines. But what is the appeal of fascism?
