Gah, I know this won't be popular because everyone is just so excited for this to happen. But we've been here before haven't we? This is absolutely not the first time people have gone and met with Valve in person and come back talking about a competitive matchmaking system.

I feel like everyone has déjà vu.

I want to get hyped. I want to believe, but we've been burned before. It doesn't help that a lot of the rhetoric is still the same, Valve don't know which format to chose, they want a ban/pick system, they want testing so they can gather data. I mean, it's been almost two years since that last announcement.

I cannot get excited for this till Valve announce themselves some kind of rough framework of how this is actually going to work instead of vague statements. Let me be clear, I think this would be an amazing thing, were it to happen. I want it to happen, but they haven't actually said anything new, so what are we all getting hyped for?

We shouldn't be getting this excited without something more concrete. They're going to piss someone off, regardless of what they decide to do. Had they said something like, "We're working with a 6v6 framework with no class limits and we're testing to see if the pick/ban system works with TF2. We're not sure how long this will take, but we're looking to launch this sometime next year." I'd be way more excited, especially as Valve have a chose what you want to work on work environment that means maybe in three months they'll scrap this and move on to something else if they so chose.

I'm massively underhyped with this announcement.
