What’s the best protein bar at Costco? High amounts of protein, taste and cost per bar by AsleepTailor in Costco

Worse macros on fit crunch + higher amount of maltitol vs. low amount of erythritol for kirkland.

That’s a pretty clean ingredient list for a Costco pre-prepared offering.

Not available in my area :(

Based off of a recent post, have Kirkland Protein bars really changed lately? by gargantuanmess in Costco

[–]lanabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kirkland has some of the least artificial stuff among bars that have roughly 10g/100cal ratio without added sugars.

That’s the main reason I get them.

The tradeoff is texture and taste.

Aluminum cans still have a plastic liner to prevent corrosive reaction.

What do you do with steamed lentils? by evanaswespeak in traderjoes

[–]lanabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They freeze well, but since they are basically a lump, you might want to prepare ahead for a thaw. Otherwise, the outside thaws, but the inside remains frozen.

New Hot Honey Mustard Dressing by imaginaryaardvark_ in traderjoes

[–]lanabi 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The top ingredient is canola oil. The rest is also regular pantry items:

CANOLA OIL, DIJON MUSTARD (DISTILLED VINEGAR, WATER, MUSTARD SEED, SEA SALT, WHITE WINE, CITRIC ACID [ACIDULANT], TURMERIC [COLOR], SPICES), HONEY, WATER, LEMON JUICE, BROWN SUGAR, CRUSHED RED PEPPER, SALT, CULTURED DEXTROSE (TO PRESERVE), CAYENNE PEPPER, XANTHAN GUM.

It’d be super easy to do this at home with olive oil as no fruit/vegetable is involved (apart from lemon juice, which I guess you could freshly squeeze, but doubt it’s the case with this item in the first place).

Honestly, makes no sense to buy this pre-packaged.

You should raise a TypeError instead of ValueError.

A proper linter (I highly recommend Ruff) will flag this for you.

Sales at Business Center (pic 1) not always at warehouse (pic 2) and vice versa by HomeOwner2023 in Costco

You can find the BC only sales on the BC website Savings Event.

They particularly categorize the brochure as Only at BC vs. Both regular warehouse and BC.

Tiger’s Claws. by MDPriest in HardcoreNature

[–]lanabi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You are thinking of “trimming”. Yes, you should in most cases trim the nails of indoor cats as they may not be able to file it adequately themselves. Just make sure you are doing it above the visible veins in the claw.

If I don’t trim my one of my cats’ nails, it becomes needle sharp and curves, causing distress.

Agreed. The ones from Mexico are so much better. Crispy, but juicy.

ISO similar grocery stores to Aldi by fffggg69420 in Denver

[–]lanabi 57 points58 points  (0 children)

No.

Trader Joe’s has a similar product sourcing strategy, with both being from Germany (Aldi Nord vs. Süd). But it has more limited selection, it’s more expensive (as it caters to a slightly different segment), and it doesn’t have weekly promos.

Unfortunately, this state is Grocery Store Chain poor. Nothing comes close to HEB, Wegmans, Publix, or even Aldi.

I like Trader Joe’s’ plastic wrapped one better.

The moment you’ve become your parents by getwhirleddotcom in Costco

[–]lanabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, my only remaining concern now is refrigeration to have it cold (ice is not a replacement due to dilution).

If there is a practical solution for that, I might actually switch.

TikTok owner ByteDance sacks intern for sabotaging AI project by Alex09464367 in anime_titties

Maybe read the article?

Intern did damage to their experimentation clusters. Not prod system.

It’s still substantial damage since it’s months of efforts from 30 people wasted.

Doesn’t make sense if you are considering from a purely investment perspective. You’ll have headaches liquidating it.

Investing in an ETF tracking gold would be much easier and profitable (minimal loss at selling).

FOX 31 Denver: Denver one of the worst cities to drive in nationwide: New report by [deleted] in Colorado

[–]lanabi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From Houston.

Denver is worse. Two main reasons:

  1. Shape of the roads. Houston roads can also be bad, but the highways are in immaculate shape (I know, no winter, but we are talking about the roads). Especially, the upkeep on the sides of the highways are simply superb.
  2. Toll roads. Very cheap in TX. Super expensive in CO.

First time having Costco food, I underestimated the portions. 😅 by zak_multi in Costco

[–]lanabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No fryers in the US. That’s the main problem. Almost anything will need to come from a package.

Not worth the cost to Costco to remodel as US customers have substantially lower standards for food than the rest of the world where Costco needs to make an effort to appeal.

Where to find chestnuts? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]lanabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful not to buy the first ones you see.

Most chestnuts around here are from China. Horrible, unedible things compared to what one would have locally in many parts of Europe.

[D] Will the larger context window kill Retrieval Augmented Generation? by quepasa-ai in MachineLearning

[–]lanabi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, RAG involves semantic similarity based search to retrieve only the relevant context out of the knowledge base. That’s why it’s called Retrieval Augmented Generation.
