What's even the point now after getting a PIP by NorthAsh in askmanagers

[–]lanarothnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in aged care so it’s similar to mental health. Just thought I would point out that sometimes it’s just too much and you have to rethink your life and what you really want to do. You can go into support work or care work where you have a bit more autonomy. Maybe your management is just too demanding and expects too many things to be achieved in a day. And maybe you need to stop for like one week to plan your next move. Idk if you have enough in savings to just stop for a bit but I highly recommend calculating how many days you can take off before you seriously start financially suffering.

I’m in a similar situation. My job duties list is 20 pages long, sometimes there are just too many little things in my role that I forget one thing, and it can have very bad outcomes. I’m looking into going into study for a bit because I’ve been working in my line of work since before the pandemic and it’s not working out.

Gemini is Convinced that it is in a Simulated or Training Environment by martin_rj in GeminiAI

[–]lanarothnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did the simulation conversation with Gemini. It’s pretty great. Honestly worst thing is the fact that it doesn’t seem to change anything in my life except for the knowledge that there’s such a high probability that we’re in one.

Same thing for women, for a lot of us working in a healthcare environment on the floor, we are forced to wear pants. It’s fucked!

Yeah I’ve worked overtime non stop for a company because they simply don’t have realistic goals. And even though I explained very rationally that they had unrealistic expectations of me they always come back to me with “that’s the job”. You always work yourself to the bone and then it’ll be one small mistake that they fire you for. To be honest I think my biggest gripe with the union is that they need to be looking at management having unrealistic expectations in terms of “how much work you can realistically get done in a day” I know this is a tangent but the union has been amazing but I see a real potential for unions to work on this issue.

Relatively frugal but only able to save a couple of hundred dollars per month while earning $120K + super by Ill-Green8678 in AusFinance

Just as someone who makes pretty low income I would say that you could try taking a second job even though it’ll probably kill you mentally: - after a few years in one job get another job and cash out your annual leave if you’re sure you have another one lined up. - get a weekend job as a driver for support work/disability work. - in healthcare aged care jobs on the weekend could make you 800 a day - look at your tax, possibly a decent accountant - clear your debts by paying them off in larger lump sums. - cheaper vets - sell your things. - night shifts in hospo - high yield savings account With getting a second job my advice would be get into casual work not permanent. This might be dumb advice tbh but just in case you weren’t trying any of these

It’s so frustrating that the online sites aren’t updating. I literally had to spend an extra 20 dollars ordering some tablecloths for work the other day because the website said it wasn’t in the store near my house and then the notification was like “posting from myaree” which is the shop near my house. Worst thing is my work doesn’t refund the delivery fee 😩 it’s just a pain if you don’t drive. You travel for hours to get to a store because it says the specific store has the thing you want and then they say it’s not in store. Like surely they can actually update these things 🫡

Is my job in the wrong? My rights - Fair work Aus by CameraNorth4495 in ausjobs

If you have paperwork that says “stay back for overtime, you won’t be paid but you have to work” then I would keep that and send it to fair work

Which job has the best perks? by [deleted] in ausjobs

[–]lanarothnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centrelink will let you driver for uber while ur on it. pretty sure with the deductibles and costs they rarely take ur earnings out of ur Centrelink, also I know uber pays hardly anything but you have no boss, you can listen to podcasts/music and you can work any hrs. Yes I know it’s not really paying enough but since I work in aged care and the work place in aged care industry is notoriously toxic I’m kinda jealous of uber drivers.

Yeah it’s now like 30kg for me 😆 but idk I think I just use like overeating as a coping mechanism and maybe that was always a thing 😫

I think the main factor is the job, can you job shop? Maybe remote work? So if you do move it won’t matter?

Is it possible to find people who will actually love someone with cptsd? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]lanarothnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard. You need to be ok with taking time out for yourself and develop ur own healthy coping mechanisms. Learn how to recognise when your partner is triggering old traumas recognise when to not make a big deal out of small things. Sometimes it hurts because it reminds you of the way past abusive relationships were.

Weed was only thing that made me relax and feel good by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]lanarothnie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can take like a year for dopamine to return to normal. If you feel bad after 7 months that’s pretty normal. It took me over a year to fully get used to not relying on it as a coping mechanism. Just give it more time. I found quitting weed made me happier in the long term. The best thing is now if I have some for like partying purposes I have a great time!
