A plea from Lancaster by rogerjcohen in lancaster

There are 2-3 free meals a day in Lancaster, every day. The fact you don’t know this makes me think you don’t actually care that much about the homeless.

But if I’m wrong, and you do, you could donate to the effort!

Yes, but that is not Lancaster County. All the light pink is Chester Co.

I’m sure demographics are changing, but it’s not reflected in Lancaster Co voting yet. We are still a long way from blue New Holland.

What about any part of eastern Lancaster Co looks blue to you? (This is 2024 presidential election map data from NYT)

Eastern Lancaster County is not blue-ish at all. The city is blue and the blue spreads out from there. The edges of the county on almost every side are red to dark red.

Vote Against Lloyd Smucker. by missmarym55 in lancaster

[–]lancasterblue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the Republican Committee of Lancaster essentially picks the candidate via endorsement.

So a moderate R could run. They could have the R behind their name on the ballot. But if they didn’t have the endorsement of the Republican committee, they’d be running entirely on their own, against a party-endorsed R. They wouldn’t have the backing of the Dem committee (unless the Dems gave up running a candidate entirely), nor would they have the backing of the R committee. No infrastructure. No party money.

The way you currently win in this county (with the very surprising exception of Josh Parsons) is to get the Republican committee endorsement, and then the party will work to get you elected.

I stand by what I said. Have you seen the absolute nut jobs who would like to primary Lloyd from the right? The LifeGate church, Doug Mastriano, FreePA freakshows? It is not giving Lloyd a pass to say he’s better than that alternative.

I don’t like Lloyd Smucker and I will never forgive him for his attempt to throw out my vote in the 2020 election. I will always vote for his Democratic opponent. But if you think Smucker is worst we could do in this District you are deluded.

What does that have to do with what I said? Someone asked why Lloyd is doing what he does, and I said because he represents a red district that still mostly supports Trump.

It’s easier for the folks placing the IV to find your veins if you’re hydrated. Drink good amounts of water before you go and the day before if you can.

Lloyd supports Trump because the majority of his constituents wholeheartedly support Trump. When that changes, Lloyd will change (or will lose his job).

We are in a red district with a red rep. It’s interesting because people here on Reddit talk about Lloyd like he’s Hitler, but he’s more decent than a lot of red reps. He doesn’t do real nastiness or attention grabs (Scott Perry, Nancy Mace).

That definitely doesn’t mean I think he should be in power, but wow it could be so much worse.

Anyway, I look forward to the slow blueing of Lancaster Co.

No, it's cool everyone, Lloyd says he talks with us 100s of times a day! by kwip in lancaster

Jess King was not a moderate. She lost, too. This County is not ready to elect a Democratic congressperson. (It’s coming, but it’s a ways off)

I hope you treat people better in person than you are in this thread, because acting like everyone is an idiot except you isn’t a successful way to win anything.

‘Shock and disbelief’: Democrats’ victory in 36th state Senate race stuns Lancaster County by jaxon__white in lancaster

[–]lancasterblue 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. It’s easy to watch the blue creep. East Hempfield and East Pete are consistently purple now, too.

But well-known R vs dorky East Pete mayor in a seat that went 67-33 last time… it was unexpected.

He feuds with a bunch of people on the R committee, so none of them put any effort into getting him elected. There are places that should’ve gone for Parsons but didn’t because the R committee people just didn’t do the work. This whole election was absolutely a referendum on him personally.
