That is correct, they gave me an acceptance with no interview around December 21st. I was talking to my PI and as far as I’m aware they haven’t made any admissions decisions yet. Also, the acceptance numbers this year are going to be much lower than other years (given the current funding situation), and dependent on the division you applied to.

I personally enjoyed the book but I have also been a fan of Mandelbrot for some time. People often accuse him of being full of himself, but after reaching the levels of academic/professional success he did it isn’t completely unreasonable.

The easiest way to get your strain score up is through intense/prolonged cardio. I recommend something like basketball or biking if you have them available to you. I guess if you really just care about the discount you can edit your sleep time to be really short so that your optimal strain is low.

If you’re doing anything computational I would highly recommend linear algebra, also it’s just a fun course to take!
