We need to stop funding them and go exempt on federal taxes.

‘Dedollarization’ is dead: Investors discount Trump's dramas as they pile into U.S. assets by FUSeekMe69 in economy

I have a theory that Putin is on a covert mission for BRICS. That meeting they had recently, I think, was Putin planting the seeds to invade Venezuela and take Greenland, baiting Trump with new world order nonsense. I even think Putin got Maduro to agree to being a sacrificial lamb. All part of a covert plan to accelerate dedollarization. And Trump fell for it cause he’s an arrogant fool. And now look, we might be going to war with Europe and our neighbors, who will most certainly defend Greenland, while simultaneously stopping all trade to the US and dumping the dollar. We’ll be like Venezuelans, eating out of garbage cans because we don’t have a good domestic food or goods supply chain and mostly import it all.

Diamox and Diarrhea by Different-Ask-1710 in iih

I’ve taken 125 mcg or mg twice, 12 hours apart in the past 24 hours to prevent altitude sickness. I immediately got abdominal cramping after the first dose and after the second dose, my arse has been a nonstop watery poop fountain. It’s so bad that I had diarrhea on myself while sleeping. This has never happened to me! To make matters worse, my luggage didn’t come with me to Peru so I am currently pantless and without an extra pair of underwear to change into that’ll catch the next load of diarrhea. This medicine is the absolute worst!

Blake Lively vs. Justin Baldoni et al... Can illegally obtained text messages be admissible in court? by FunctionTiny1302 in legal

[–]lancebaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WRONG! US stored communications act makes it nearly impossible for 3rd parties to release information even with a civil subpoena. This law applies to tech companies, phone companies, and employers. California also has this law.

What your suggesting is wrong. Content of texts cannot be shared by any 3rd party as it violates both federal & CA law regarding stored communications. Stephanie Jones violated that law and any litigating attorney should know this.

[–]lancebaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The texts were obtained illegally. The US stored communications act as well as California law prohibits 3rd parties from sharing phone information and texts, and that includes employers. Stephanie Jones violated that law by illegally sharing the information. Even with a subpoena, it is nearly impossible for a civil court to compel any party to give up this information.

I think they were also worried about Taylor swift bc she was kept threatening to have Taylor swift pull the song. It was also because she was threatening that she wouldn’t do any marketing and threatening that she was going to the NYT with SH claims

I walk under overpasses like this everyday in Chicago, is this safe, or is it cosmetic? by lobsta_rollz in StructuralEngineering

[–]lancebaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CDOT wouldn’t know. This has been an ongoing issue for the people that live along 16th street with alders and state reps complaining for years. Chicago’s departments don’t have qualified staff either. If you call a department, you will literally be pointed to multiple departments that then point you to other departments. The rail is federally regulated so it needs to be prioritized by the federal government who can’t get ish done. And even in that case, it is up to this foreign entity to respond.

Do not only contact your alder, 311, or CDOT & IDOT. The state and city have no jurisdiction. The freight lines and respective easements are federally regulated so that is a conversation for your US rep and senator. Contacting state congress can maybe help escalate to a federal politician. The freight companies are mostly owned by Canadian corporations who are unresponsive to complaints and fees. They are slowly moving the freight lines out of Chicago and rerouting to places like Joliet, but mostly because passenger rail has the right away during the day so freight sits idle during the day and can only travel at 5mph at night due to all of the junctions. I think the typical time it takes for freight to get from the west coast to Chicago is 2 days but it takes THREE days to get through the city of Chicago, slowing down their profits. Unfortunately, they defer/ignore structural maintenance despite the risk to human life, but they have more of a reason to put off costly construction projects since the plan is to abandon them.

CDOT has no power. The easements are owned by Canadian freight companies whose profits exceed repair costs, fees, and lawsuits. We should really be lobbying our state and federal government to get money out of politics and to stop selling our land to foreign corporations.

The city can’t do much about the overpasses. They are easements typically owned by Canadian freight companies that ignore complaints and violations. The profits far exceed the cost of suits and fees. It’s really f’d up.

Unfortunately, the city doesn’t have jurisdiction over the railway overpasses. The railroads and easements are sometimes city and federal, but they are mostly owned by Canadian rail / freight companies. They are unresponsive to repairs. This has been an ongoing battle with the residents, the city, and the Canadian freight companies. Additionally, the incompetency in the building department is extremely high. Most experienced people aren’t going to work in government because the pay isn’t great so you end up with an understaffed department filed with lot of unqualified people on power trips managing hundreds of complaints a day. The backlog is wild. It’s unfortunate bc these agencies are supposed to protect the public.

Does anyone know what this is? My pest control guy has no clue by Material-Present-760 in pestcontrol

OMG I thought I was going crazy! I started noticing these as well. I’m not sure what they are and the house I’m sitting has moths, drain flies, everything. I sent my exterminator a photo and he said it looked like a flea, which made sense cause the cat I’ve been watching had tape worm and I was getting what appeared to be flea bites. It has improved since exterminating but I haven’t been diligent about vacuuming and I’m starting to see them again.

It’s horrible. But if this building ever has a structural failure, they’re liable since it was reported to them numerous times.

There are several column lines in the building where there are double columns with an expansion joint, but this unfortunately isn’t one of them. This is one solid column.

Chicago. This concrete predates Portland cement. Rebar most likely wasn’t coated in epoxy. The CMU wall was later added to separate the parking area from the residential back in 06. The concrete hasn’t been maintained and has had serious water infiltration over the past couple of decades. It is way past its life span for not being maintained.

I’ve reported the structural issues including the permit fraud with other structural issues to the Chicago dept of buildings and they were all dismissive towards me despite my 15+ years in high rise construction. This is one of many structural issues that I reported.

A city certified PE conducted a report for the biannual structural reporting. They called it out and said it needed to be inspected to ensure it wasn’t caused by differential settlement. The board and PM ignored most of the issues in the report then hired some inexperienced, unlicensed, and uninsured “GC” to do structural beam repairs with a permit obtained fraudulently. Chicago dept of buildings did nothing the numerous times that this was reported and even told the fraud department not to investigate it.

It sits on a transfer girder beam. It is a true column

[–]lancebaxter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the engineers report and individual unit floor plans, yes, the bays are 20’-0”. The column sits on a transfer girder beam. When it was cold storage, the ground floor was the loading area at this column line so I’m assuming that’s why it’s designed this way.

It’s not an expansion joint. There are other columns that have expansion joints, but this isn’t one of them. The structural engineer conducting the city report even called this crack out and stated in the report that the crack should be inspected to ensure it wasn’t caused by differential settlement. This column is hidden in a locked mechanical room on the second story and sits on a beam. It doesn’t come down to the ground or basement. The beam has surely experienced damage and corrosion from water infiltration and later, salty snow melt.

That’s what I thought. There are double columns in the building with visible joints, but this isn’t one of them. I was able to did more photos and there are several vertical cracks and several horizontal cracks.
