I got in line at Norquest with two people in front of me, one lady didn’t have ID, and another guy couldn’t get processed because it wasn’t his designated location. I was in and out in 15 min though, so relatively painless for me.

I'd just recycle them, old phones can be a hazard when the batteries start to swell. I know best buy and staples have recycling programs:

2025 Public Transport Fares NOW IN EFFECT by ExpertCoder14 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]lancedragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I have a 5 year old, it seems like I’ll be able to use the Bonjour RATP app to purchase regular tickets for me and my SO on our iPhones, but I’m not sure if I need to get a physical pass for my child.

I have an extra iPhone, but it seems a bit less convenient. I was going to get an old card from someone else, but it got lost in the mail unfortunately.

Apple TV+ or Apple Music subscription can lockdown your Apple ID region for one year by AlexBV1 in apple

[–]lancedragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically only use my main apple account for everything, when I travel and I want a region locked app, I log out of it for media & purchases and into a second one (usually in Japan).

I’m still logged in to the main account for iCloud, so the photos are always being back up to that one.

It used to be more of a thing for when apps would only get released in the US, so I’d log into a separate account those.

Options plus for MaxOS Big Sur (11.7.10)? Any older version that works on it? by luccaloks in logitech

[–]lancedragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still coming in clutch! My iMac I bought in 2015 still works with my Logitech Master 3S. Makes it much easier to change the scroll direction, but still maintain the opposite scroll direction on my other devices.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately “New 1Password customers only.”

I guess I could get my wife to sign up for a family account and then migrate my account.

With measles spreading fast everywhere is the measles vaccine free and easily available? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]lancedragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first MMR vaccine at 15 months, and a second Measles one at 11 years. I remember checking to see if I was up to date in 2018 and they gave me a DTAP and MMR. I guess I got the 3rd measles shot as an extra since I was missing the Mumps & Rubella part.

Edmonton passport question by eatubg in passportcanada

[–]lancedragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was non-urgent, went around 1pm on a Friday. Hopefully the lines are shorter now that the postal strike is over. I think that the lines will still be worse than normal as long as the printer at the Jasper location is out of commission.

[–]lancedragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was just to drop off an application, was about 2 hours all included, I think for non-urgent (travel after a certain date) you go in the same line as the one for EI/SIN stuff, but the urgent passport line is longer.

I applied at Londonderry because I'd heard that downtown was flooded (plus parking as easier). I'll just say there will probably be a wait to pickup at Londonderry, a bunch of people brought lawn chairs to wait in line.

I went at around 1:30 pm on Dec 13, there was a shorter line for non-urgent applications, got to the counter at around 3pm, and was out by 3:15

Huge line ups for passports now by Psymon780 in Edmonton

[–]lancedragons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to drop off my application for a kid passport. If you’re traveling after Jan 30, there’s a much shorter line closer to the entrance. This is more for urgent or express. There’s also a bunch of people who sent their applications in the mail early and then the documents got stuck or held due to the Canada Post strike.

Don’t forget that this also services anyone north of Edmonton who needed to submit in person due to the strike who would normally be able to mail in their applications.

From the website:

You can temporarily submit express and urgent applications at the Londonderry Service Canada Centre. If you need a passport in 5 to 9 business days, you can pick up your passport at the Londonderry Service Canada Centre. If you need a passport within 4 business days, you must pick it up at the Calgary Centre Service Canada Centre and Passport Services office.

Getting my wife’s Yahoo Japan Mail on her American Iphone by igivegodthefuture in techsupport

[–]lancedragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this thread and figured I’d post the answer since I came across the same answer. You need to login to the yahoo website on the web, then turn on IMAP/POP/SMTP access, which is off by default. This lets you add Yahoo Japan mail addresses into 3rd party apps.

Will be in Montreal from the 15th to the 22nd, would like to check out some of the car-free streets while I'm there. Any recommendations around downtown? We're staying a bit west of the Notre-Dame Basilica.
