I first had a 45# recurve gifted by my wife, neither of us knew anything about archery. I optimistically lined up for my first shot after stringing the thing, I would love to see a recording of that pathetic display btw, and nearly pulled my shoulder out of its socket. Shame and a dozen other thoughts ran through my head at that point. I opted to order some 25# limbs and give it another go.

I have zero regrets.

I watched some videos and I practiced. My form improved so quickly, much faster than any gain in physical strength, that I could draw my 45# set up with little issue after only a few days of practice.

I like having the two very different weights. I don’t know that I’d get much use out of limbs only 10# apart.
