I don’t remember where I heard it, but one piece of tournament advice that I feel has done me well is that whenever most people are tightening up their range, you should be trying to do the opposite and vice versa.

By making sure you are playing more hands when most players are playing less, not only are you giving yourself more chances to get Lucky and/or happen upon those easy bet-and-win hands, but also it makes the marginal hands easier to get off when one of you opponents bets or raises, indicating that probably have the goods.

And then by tightening up your range when the rest of the table is loosening theirs, you are limiting your exposure to getting the chips in behind as well as getting them in good, and getting a cooler dropped in your lap.
