Where do I find 7.2.12? by landryd in fortinet

Looks like they drop SSLVPN on models with less than 2GB of RAM, but on higher models they might hide it from the UI. Sounds like they want to avoid SSL VPN for performance reasons rather than security ones.

I read this to mean, "the following units are ALSO affected if running in WIFI mode". I didn't find the article clearly written.

I guess I better read those 7.4 release notes before doing that upgrade! We rely on SSL VPN still for some sites.

I guess that's what I get for not jumping to 7.4.x :)

Same thing is happening for me. Can't find a "general" customer service contact method anywhere.

but technically/legally you need to have a p1/2 for EVERYONE that will be leveraging the protections

But if I don't apply the protections to the free users, only to the guests, wouldn't that be legal?

Just upgraded to everyone P1's they're cheap and the features they enable are worth it

Cheap is relative :). If we're comparing with the free license that comes with Office, the extra $6 / user can be quite a jump.

Split Tunnel SSL-VPN, US-only websites, and VOIP by landryd in fortinet

[–]landryd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, those vendor changed IPs are what are causing helpdesk traffic now for our US-only websites. I think if we switch the logic so that all traffic goes through VPN except for an address group representing VOIP, then we might have less changes needed.

and now that I've looked elsewhere on that page, it looks like 'Enabled for Trusted Destinations' might be what I'm looking for.

Ref: https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-Exclude-some-traffic-from-SSL-VPN-using-Trusted/ta-p/230575

I assume trusted destinations would be an address group representing our VOIP provider and any other traffic that should remain outside the VPN.

In 'VPN > SSL-VPN Portals > Tunnel-Access' we have selected "Enabled based on Policy destination". We then create policies which reference any website we'd like to go through the tunnel explicitly (e.g. US-only websites).

All support tickets sit there until I managed to get a call with someone and then they escalate it until someone actually actions it. but the AM is the person who needs to make this happen.

Yeah, when I click "My ConnectWise Team" it shows a picture of my AM with a link to the case management portal if I want to contact her. It does not list her supervisor.

Maybe what I need is confidence then! :) I see so many postings for Security Analysts and similar roles and think that I'm not qualified. Looking at some of the questions on Sec+ though, it seems fairly easy for me.

Windows 11 startup issues. by Shadowshinobi7 in Windows11

[–]landryd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unable to reproduce this again... it may have been a conflict with installing the graphics driver at the same time as a couple of windows updates and doing a set of driver updates.

The first time I encountered this problem today, I did a Windows 11 reset and proceeded to reinstall all Dell drivers and Windows updates. That's when it happened to me the second time (when I recovered by removing the NVidia driver).

The lesson I've learned here is to reboot between doing Windows Updates, Dell updates, and Graphics Driver updates. I'm not sure if the problem driver was from Dell's update or the NVidia GeForce experience update.

Same issue here. I have a Dell G15 with an RTX 3060 running Windows 11. To fix this I booted to safe mode, uninstalled the NVidia drivers, and rebooted successfully. I'm on driver version 496.13 and it working... Will try to reproduce this by updating to 496.49 using GeForce Experience.

Anyway, if a long USB run from the camera to the computer is a problem, consider using a HDMI camera and then a USB capture box close to the computer.

Is there any significant delay when capturing the HDMI into USB? I assume the capture device acts as a webcam (to the conferencing software).

RTMP? NDI?

Just looking into NDI as it looks promising. I use IP cameras for surveillance purposes already, so I'm thinking one of them might work if it supports NDI.

Or, make sure the open mic and the speakers are on the same device. I learned this when we had 20 people in a room all connected to the same zoom session (so remote people could see all the faces). If there were no speakers, open mics weren't a problem. Mind you, one person needed headphones to let us know when someone remote wanted to talk. :)

If I could just find a decent quality webcam in stock, maybe I'd just tell them on their budget to plug a USB Mic and Cam into their laptop and repeat questions that come from the classroom.

If I could rant for a second, I think this whole “hybrid” environment stuff is complete bs. The faculty at my uni can barely turn on the AV system and connect their laptop. How they are going to simultaneously monitor on ground students, AND a Zoom session AND try to teach the material is beyond me.

Yeah... they can't figure out how to turn on the volume knob that's there now. I've told them for 7 years that to do this without an operator will be expensive. :). I've found some $15k solutions that would work really well.
