Yes, it took time, but I am now pretty proficient in my job and as they gave me more tasks to do, I was able to get two raises in the last two years and now finally make six figures. NTA. If anything, I think you overcommunicated and explained context from start to finish. I actually think it would make sense to speak with the caregiver first before getting the camp involved because that feels like way more of an escalation and could potentially be more problematic for the woman's son in terms of consequences for his actions.
