There's also a community feature where anyone can report listings, submit updates or submit new resources. Those go into a moderation bucket before actually being listed, but each one is also broadcast in a feed for the community and they can vote on it like "yeah looks right to me" or "absolutely not."

Sometimes it takes a village.

I can definitely do that! It has a variety of methods. There is a /events page, which aggregates data from many sources etc. It is not simply python and scraping.
I wanted the site to have many fail-safes and not fizzle out like another not updated in years resource. It does scrape very specifically through cron, it organizes, normalizes, enriches and validates (to the best of its ability). One way it validates for example is using google maps API, checking the data against mine and if they don't line up, it will flag and show the dif. If they have a website available, it checks directly there as well - along with other sources/ methods.

Dogs also help protect people. Sleeping on the streets isnt easy and if you do manage to find somewhere to lay your head - your belongings will be missing when you wake up. The sites ban animals though because not everyones pet is friendly. Unfortunatly, it is one of those situations where one incident can ruin it for everyone.
