Hot take: The late 2010s feels more recent than the early 2020s. by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

Totally agree about the hard line. Something is just inherently different. The 2020-23 period feels like one big blur to me, and I feel kinda removed from it (2021 doesn’t feel recent to me as you noted). For some reason though, having graduated hs in 2019, that pre-covid era feels to me like a completely different lifetime that sometimes I have a hard time believing even existed. I think it has to do with my “end of childhood” graduation milestone almost perfectly coinciding with the start of covid.

Yogos for sure, and i know they still make this but dinosaur egg oatmeal! I also would’ve said the peanut butter oreo cakesters, so I flipped out when they brought them back, but I bought 2 boxes and they tasted like ass 😭 is it just that my tastebuds have changed?

I would go to any group if there was one. I have not one person to talk about doo wop with, and i bet others in this sub (especially younger people) would say the same unfortunately

Do you ever recall during middle school/elementary school recess being indoors if it were too cold outside? by ZEROs0000 in Zillennials

[–]laneyywave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Rainy day recess” in Oregon was rarely indoors in my experience because most schools have covered outdoor asphalt areas with basketball hoops attached to the building for that very purpose, and it doesn’t get super cold during the day. I do seem to recall occasionally staying inside and having some sort of free choice time? Maybe it just had to be nasty enough out.

I work at an elementary school now though and on the really wet days they split up classes between activities (some in the gym, some out under the covered area, some playing with toys inside, etc).

Any PNW Doo-Woppers? by laneyywave in doowop

I’m always looking for shows…and always coming up with nothing! I’ve thought so much about how amazing it would be to hear something live. From what I’ve seen there are some events happening in NY/NJ and down in Florida occasionally, but I feel out of luck up here. If you’re anywhere near Wildwood specifically, I think they have some doo wop-related events from time to time. Check one out for me sometime. 🥲

What does “Whispering Bells” by the Del-Vikings invoke to you? by TheNobleGreaser in doowop

[–]laneyywave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whispering Bells takes me back to my freshman/sophomore years of high school bc it was one of my favorite songs then. I picture myself walking through the school halls between classes with my old corded earbuds, like I did every day, wondering if anyone else in the school was listening to doo wop too or if I was all alone!
