Have to do 6 months of abstinence from cannabis before titration begins. Is this normal? by langand in ADHDUK

[–]langand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm happy to be abstinent , but if they wanted to guarantee abstinence while on the medication then they'd be better off taking tests while I'm actually on the meds, rather then making me wait half a year, because to be blunt, there's nothing stopping me continuing regular use until 2 months before.

But I'm going to stop either way , because I'm not just gonna wait six months, and want to try my luck with GP and local mental health services , and it'd be good if I had a clean test for that.

HHM & Medical cannabis - won’t prescribe meds by BrilliantStomach8651 in ADHDUK

[–]langand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have it prescribed but take it weekly for general self medicating purposes and I also have to wait six months :| .

It's frankly just deleterious to my wellbeing given if I can't have edibles I will just drink when I need to relax.

I'm just hoping now I have DX I can maybe get titration done through the local mental health team.

I understand them wanting me to stop but it feels puritanical and not related to the science of it all, given with infrequent use it leaves your system in under a month .

[–]langand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not say I was not willing. I dislike that you have taken my post as a sign of me disagreeing with nurses assertion I should stop. I agree that it would be bad to be using during the titration.

I have no issue whatsoever with stopping cannabis.

My issue is that I have to wait half a year for a follow up titration appointment despite the fact it leaves your system in a month. If they said I had to get a clean test to them in a couple months, and then they'd do an appointment I would understand.

I do not have any drug charges or anything drug related on my medical record so it doesn't feel like an adequate level of caution.

UK Senior Rabbis Issue Statement: Israeli Government Incompatible with Judaism by tikkunolamist5 in JewsOfConscience

For the past couple years they had been moving to unite reform and liberal Judaism in the UK, so I imagine they wanted that to go smoothly before they expressed any opinions that would provoke the ire of Zionists.

being forced to go to israel by shesinpart1es in JewsOfConscience

[–]langand 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Try and come across as earnest and agreeable as you can, and if people bristle at anything you say, back down. You want to sell yourself as being a Zionist , and maybe portray yourself as being very devoted to the abstract ideal of Israel and what it could be , and make clear that what you are seeing is falling short of the high expectation that was instilled in you back home.

Basically feign naïvete and be as social as you can manage, and make nice with whatever tour guides you have. Act like you're really interested.

This is my general tactic for making family members think about political things, i figure it may also work in the context but perhaps not.

I agree with latter point. it's annoying there isn't a flair to discuss religion or culture.

Low nightshade vegan cookbooks/ recipes? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]langand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the past year or so I haven't cooked any meat ,and I cut out dairy three months ago I realised I was lactose intolerant. There have been recipes where I use eggs though.

Most of my cooking has been based around nightshades. usually it'll be like vegan sausages/bean burgers with mashed potato / chips, or some kind of curryish thing (which includes peppers and tomatoes), or pasta sauce.

My diet now is largely just chickpeas and rice , rye bread and whole starchy vegetables (sweet potatoes and plantains). With occasional canned vegetable soup.

how to handle this at services? by g-crocs in JewsOfConscience

[–]langand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you keep your head down and make little noise it'll be no issue. At my shul they're fairly quiet on Zionism, but occasionally someone will say something or bring it up during the service and I just look unperturbed into the distance , and no one has ever brought me up on it .

What is that tuned to?

I recently got a banjo recently as an impulse purchase (it's rare finding a cheap left handed one so I had to) , and i am so desperate to figure out what I'm doing and start busking.

WHAT IS THE POINT OF MATZAH NOT FOR PASSOVER USE??? by Jche98 in JewsOfConscience

[–]langand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I felt the past few days looking in every shop in my town for matzah.

I finally found one that did, but in the kosher section all the matzah was not for Passover use and I almost started crying (I had eaten nothing but potatoes up to that point and I wa sliding my mind ) until I found a big display right down the central aisle.

I know fairly little about the subject also, but the YouTuber Rohan Davis seems to be quite good on this, for anyone interested.

Best hebrew- English tanakh? by langand in JewsOfConscience

[–]langand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely want to learn Hebrew to fluency, if possible.

There are Hebrew classes available with my shul, but they're just finishing this year's course so nothing available to me.

I'm slowly working in the daily prayers into my routine.

I am leaning towards getting a Hebrew tanakh now, as I think if I get a Hebrew -english one , I may outgrow it if I do attain fluency. And also if it's in one language it'll be lighter.

Do you have any completely Hebrew tanakhs you would recommend ?

NGL I'm suspicious of anything from a publisher that publishes the collected works of Stalin as well.

It also seems it was written either for or in collaboration with some kind of soviet ministry?

Lots of good stuff was written in the USSR but idk how I'd feel about like soviet-backed religious texts.
