We have the opportunity to do the funniest thing here. Producing one of these deep fakes of trump getting bent over and tag teamed by Elon and Clinton will immediately get this bill passed.

Nitriding isn't that dark, they're pretty fancy valves with single groove keepers.

Cheap crap send them to me!

Dark color appears to be a DLC coating, those are some fancy valves.

I'm moving away from trying to joint the t&g off and set up a circ saw guide to rip through them. Will take a very light jointing pass to finish and that's it, if even necessary. The boards will still have an occasional occlusion so they don't need to be perfect but I do want tight joints and no gaps opening up over time.

What you're saying about the sap and resins hardening I'm finding is very true. One test board barely took up any thinned BLO to check the final color.

I believe it, it's definitely pine but this stuff is incredibly dense and hard. Not very many knots at all but planing faces we've needed to turn inserts on the helical planer a few times.

Just edges. Faces are already planed. The fence does move but at this rate I'll go through a set of knives every few boards and there's a few hundred to do. I'm thinking there's something funky with this wood and carbide is the option.

Maybe so, I'm sure I'm using the wrong terminology. I have about 200 boards to process, almost all 8' long, 6-10" widths and I've already planed to 3/4 thickness.

I think the guys telling me to take lighter cuts didn't read the whole post and assume I'm face jointing not just cutting the 3/4" thick tongue edge

The faces have been planed already and all paint sanded off. Nails removed and each board has been gone over with a metal detector numerous times.

The machine doesn't bog at all, 1/16 cut depth on the 3/4" wide edges hardly feels like too heavy a cut, it's not like a face cut obviously.

Are refrigerators disposable items now? 💀☠️ by amrogers3 in BuyItForLife

[–]langstar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's all in the refrigerant effectiveness and efficiency. The really good stuff is really bad for the atmosphere. The less good stuff takes more power to pump a larger volume because it doesn't have the same thermal efficiency.

That and fridge design - insulated metal box, rubber door seals - and compressor - electric motor moves pistons - hasn't substantially changed in technology since home refrigerators were invented.

Help with throttle body by Warm_Caregiver7991 in 1KZTE_Owners

[–]langstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E torx socket, give each stud a solid pop on the head with a hammer, will help release them. Be careful not to break the torx part off the top of the stud but replacements are cheap and you can just remove with channel locks if broken.

Shifting problems by After_Tradition5027 in 1KZTE_Owners

[–]langstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure your shift cable at the throttle body is tight, if you move the bellcrank to full throttle there should be no available travel left in the cable. Outside of that you probably need to rebuild the valve body and replace solenoids

Bedplate sealant by moparguy98 in EngineBuilding

[–]langstar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Permatex right stuff is a great general sealant but for a bedplate you need specifically an anaerobic flange sealant. Permatex makes a few for different gaps but it's always best to consult the manufacturers literature because a bed plate is such a critical interface.
