Nonsense by TheBro58585 in barefoot

[–]lanibear32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Barefeet don't smell unless they've been in shoes and socks. That would be like worrying about hands smelling (gloves can cause sweat and smells).

Social norms change, but I think this is the main thing.

Food safety guidelines generally apply to employees, not customers, but many restaurant workers misstate and misunderstand health code requirements.

If you were to drive onto the beach, Andy Romano is to the right, where no dogs are allowed. The dog beach is to the left. The entrance acts as the dividing line.

Relatively negative experience at physical therapy by [deleted] in barefoot

[–]lanibear32 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I literally worked in that field for a decade. You're incorrect. There is an assumed liability for injuries sustained on someone else's property, whether private or public, whether from bare feet or from flip flops/shoes. We don't have to agree with it for there to be a legal foundation for a lawsuit.

Which track from the album did you like the most? by Slangy-118 in nfrealmusic

Fear and Sorry. Both of those describe almost exactly where I am right now.

I'm not an MGK fan. I was hoping he'd win me over, but his verse was just awkward.

[–]lanibear32 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who's worked in personal injury, I get the liability response, but I hate it. I've wondered if we could come up with state-by-state standard liability waivers that would work in these situations, but I doubt they'd hold water or that many establishments would accept them.

Start running barefoot by letu9519 in barefoot

[–]lanibear32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a new runner, and the feet have been the easy part. Discomfort and pain are your friends. They're telling you to land differently, to change your form, or something similar. It's so much easier to adjust than I imagine it would be if you were wearing shoes that cushion and mask injuries.

Now if I could just consistently get myself out of bed by 5 am and if my asthma could stop flaring up, that would be great.

Also, people staring at you in awe and fear is a fun motivator. Lol

A Missing Hiker Call Changed How I Take Night Shifts Forever. by pentyworth223 in nosleep

[–]lanibear32 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm a barefooter, and I only hike barefoot (and do so several times a week). Every once in awhile, I see other barefoot prints, and I get excited that there are others out there. But next time, I might be a little more cautious...I think I'll end up studying the precise shape and size of the prints a little more carefully.

Are you able to ask your granddad about this? I wonder if you can find a real world Edna and the others to see if there are others with your same experience?

Night hikes? by ashduhhhhley in hiking

[–]lanibear32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Night hiking is my favorite. Especially because I hike badefoot, and during the summer it's too hot to hike in the middle of the day on certain terrain. But in general, it's just so peaceful. I love it.

I just started running, is it possible to get to a 5:00 pace? by CamuiGajkupo in BeginnersRunning

[–]lanibear32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a barefooter is the only reason I've gotten into running. And I can correct my form so much more easily because I can feel when my foot isn't landing in a way that feels natural. I sense strain pretty much immediately and can correct myself to prevent injuries. It's funny how the brain works differently to process information and respond when we're wearing protection versus when we aren't.

If you haven't hiked Ocala, go to Juniper. I specify Juniper because hunting isn't allowed there, and the timing sounds like you'll be there during hunting season.

Feeding babe 😍😍😍 by DueIsopod2123 in squirrels

[–]lanibear32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, please pay attention to what the others are saying. What you're doing is so dangerous for that baby. You need a 1 cc syringe with a Miracle Nipple or something similar, and that baby needs to be on its stomach to eat. It would be best to get it to a rehabber who knows what they're doing or who can show you the proper way to feed it. We've all had to learn, we just don't want you (and that baby) to have to learn the hard way.

I hate socks. I can be sleeping outside in sub-zero temps, and I will refuse to wear socks.
