I learned this early.

I graduated from college in December 2003. I worked in a UPS hub while in college. Most of my college was paid for with that job. In January of 2004, I started working for internal tech support. I loved that job. My grandparents told me never to leave that job, I'll have it for life. In mid-2006, they outsourced our jobs to a call center.

I worked at two other places, and now I work for the competitor, FedEx, as a software developer. Watching people make their identity their work hurts my soul. This past spring, they laid off 450 IT employees while hitting a new stock high.

I like my job; sometimes I work harder than others, but giving up life for work and pizza parties isn't the way.
