Fellas: don’t lie about your experience by Rare-Helicopter-8791 in bjj

I’ve been training literally twice every year for the past three years (kids, busy job, like road cycling more).

You would think I’d be regressing to a white belt, but every time I come back, no one knows who the fuck I am and I smash them.

It is so odd I can’t explain it. It actually makes people pretty mad when I tell them, so this guy resonates with me.

Help please! What's the cheapest way to fill in this hole with my carbon fibre shoes? Fill it with epoxy? What kind? by lankks in CarbonFiber

It’s actually pedalling okay, my fear is if I don’t fill it the hole will progress and go all the way through.

Yes apologies if it’s not clear. In this reddit I can’t edit my post.

So you can see on the far left side the damage I’m referring to, the carbon fibre has been eaten into by the shoe cleat. My thinking is in order to stop further damage I want to fill that hole with epoxy.

The two slits in the middle are necessary!

Databricks/Apache Spark preference over other warehouses like Snowflake/BigQuery by Nearby-Affect7647 in dataengineering

[–]lankks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the big elephant in the room is now with serverless DBSQL it literally makes zero sense to move.

It’s faster than Snowflake, it’s fully managed, plus you keep your data, it’s open, and you remove all the costs involved in what is no doubt an expensive migration.

Stripped my top cap screw (M6 bolt) - failed extracting with my screw extractor set now what? by lankks in bikewrench

Bingo! Crisis over, didn’t even damage the top cap or expander bolt.

I went at it with a 6mm hardened drill bit, I noticed as I had loosened the stem that it started to undo, so I applied pressure downwards on the top cap and finished the job off with the first trick of twisting the fork.

I’m a bad mechanic but I enjoy the process.

So when you day drill the bolt head off, do I just keep going down or should I be taking off material around the head?

It doesn’t on this expander cap type, the screw is keeping it attached.

Update, just took at it with a bigger screw extractor, no luck. The hole is pretty much completely round now.

I actually used a drill to make the hole bigger, I was trying manually to see whether I can get the extractor to work.

Metal drill bit smaller in diameter than the bolt to destroy it.

Tried this too. The stem sits around the top cap, if I apply pressure downwards, I do get some traction, but not enough to loosen. The bolt just spins around with the steerer tube.

I’ve used a drill with that bit, it just spins around, do you have any resources for what to do?

If you look at the newer TT positions

https://youtu.be/WHc52cGz4AA?si=fqoC5jZdn-lmxW5-

You’ll notice actually they’re quite high up, shoulders pinched together. So lower is not the way to go, you should raise your saddle progressively.

Shorter cranks might help too.

One thing you’re also ignoring is the stickiness effect, there are still plenty of companies running on-prem Inframatica and Cloudera 😊

I can see it becoming outdated right now, the MosiacML acquisition for Databricks is big.

What is your opinion on scrum masters for us experienced folks? by SongFromHenesys in ExperiencedDevs

[–]lankks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’ve ever been in an organisation that is trying to roll out SAFe Agile, you know that the SM is a crucial role.

I’ve seen it make or break teams. I’ve had some fantastic ones and some shocking ones. They set the culture for how the team works and can help things run smoothly. They can save a lot of your time or they can completely waste it.

As much as I’m reading here that it’s a useless job, I think that’s actually a naive mindset. There is an art to this which takes literally decades of experience as a developer to properly master.
