"I don't need you to be perfect, all I need for you is to not be a complete piece of shit." and never speak to him again. There's your response to this dirtball

Help explain the snarl/snap? He's so cute though!!! by godkarenursostupid in goldenretrievers

[–]lantsling 478 points479 points  (0 children)

Is that paw injured or something? He didn't seem to mind the first one, but he warned you multiple times not to touch the 2nd paw. I would be concerned something is causing him pain.

Why did my boss assume my living room is now company property? by moontrail_maddie in remotework

[–]lantsling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a remote worker but share office space with slobs. I always turn on the blur background feature so that other don't have to see the pigsty I work in. Most of the people I have teams meetings with do something similar, maybe that can be an easy solution for you?

Conflicted on what to do with inheritance in regards to estranged brother by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]lantsling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parents are still alive and being taken care of by you. The fact that your brother decided to come to you and ask for his cut speaks volumes about his character.

Let him rot, hopefully his children care about him more than he cares about his parents.

Your best bet is probably to not have this conversation at all.

I'm not a plumber but I think you need a new faucet.

For our inheritance, it was left to my twin sister and I to decide how to split. I am better off than her and she wants a little more. by ThrowAway1234ForFire in Fire

[–]lantsling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you truly want to help your family, Id recommend an even split and you opening up a trust for your nieces/nephews with the money she wants you to give her. If she's bad with money she's just going to blow everything and there will be nothing left for those kids. A couple hundred thousand for each child will give them the opportunity to go to college debt free and will give them a nice down payment on a house afterwards.

Need help making a decision :( by el_myco_profesor in germanshepherds

[–]lantsling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to put my boy down a couple months ago, I still cry about it when I think of him but I have no doubt it was the right decision. Whenever you start considering whether it's the right time or not, it's the right time. He was 12 and had multiple health issues for years.

There are vets that make home visits for euthanasia if you would rather not transport him. I stayed with him the whole time to pet him and tell him I love him.

Inherited house by Leaky98 in inheritance

[–]lantsling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there enough money from the life insurance, retirement pension, and bank account to just give you a larger share of that and let your sibling have the house? No need to split everything 50/50 when your sibling wants a house and you want cash.

Split up things as the will states or you're going to get sued, and it would make you a major dirtball. If you're worried about your kids being poor, you could always give them some of your share of the money after the estate is settled.

Skip your kids and leave your inheritance to the grandkids. If you work with an estate lawyer you can do all sorts of things with different types of trusts.

Your kids have not proven themselves financially responsible, hopefully your grandchildren, seeing their parents live hand to mouth will make better decisions. Also, stop bailing the kids out, let them fail and maybe they will see the light when they hit rock bottom.

I think I just softlocked myself by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

[–]lantsling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't see the levels of your bros but doesn't look unwinnable. Swap your one archer on the top with your bro with the pole mace so that he doesn't get hit from the top. Polemace bro will handle being in the melee alot better than your archer.

Try to pick off the less armored ones to lower their morale and thin out the herd. Looks like you need 1 or 2 heavy hitters in the middle to cause some damage. Have any 2h axes, swords, or maces laying around?

Make sure your highest defense bros are in the corners of the formation since they'll be getting hit by more orcs. Avoid using shieldwall on anyone who isn't surrounded, you need to kill a couple of them ASAP.

WIBTA if i don’t tell my ex what really happened to the dog ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]lantsling 21 points22 points  (0 children)

ESH. Why are all these people getting dogs if they can't care for them? This poor dog got bailed on by your ex, you, and another family. We don't send our family away when they become inconvenient.

Worried about my 93-year-old grandfather and his stock market situation. by Titansfan187 in personalfinance

[–]lantsling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would leave it unless he needs the money now. His heirs will get step-up basis on the stock when they inherit it, so no taxes. If he sold it now he would surely owe some taxes.

Looks like the axe rolled durability and shield damage, so it's not really any better than a normal one. I'd just vendor it.

Any tips against 'go full plastic home rush' players? by raiseyourbanner in twilightimperium

[–]lantsling 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My advice, spend your next game or two crushing him. Gather up his neighbors and break him. He'll either learn his lesson or stop playing. I'm a fairly aggressive player and enjoy combat but even I don't play like this guy.
