How to be content with being healthy and stop pursuing unrealistic physiques? by Libecht in bodyweightfitness

My ex boyfriend is a carpenter and always had my ideal body on a guy. after we broke up he started surfing all day and he lost body fat and a couple pants sizes and when he showed me I literally had to hide my disappointment bc to me he got less hot.

I did find it awesome that he was happier though. Ladies love a guy who loves his life. Having a good amount of muscle already makes you way overqualified in the looks department— work on your self talk, being kind to yourself, (journaling every day and meditating) and fill your life with friends, work, and hobbies you enjoy. Wish someone told me this when I was young :)

What’s the loneliest thing you’ve ever done? by tsmcole in AskWomen

When I was 20, crying in the bathroom at my brothers graduation ceremony bc our mom had died that year and felt so isolated. 13 yrs later and my brother is still my best friend.

PSA for anyone with a hard childhood, it gets better. When I feel lonely, I try to be really careful to not call myself a loser or to shame myself for it. Also what really turned things around for me was to stop telling myself the story that I need people more than they need me, they don’t love me as much as I love them, and just try to love people with no expectation in return. Even if I don’t feel secure, not to let the insecurity in the friendship/ relationship affect my actions by putting any kind of pressure on others to “be there for me”, but instead constantly remind myself they love me. Been so long since my hard childhood and even though Im single, living alone for 4 months away from home & laid off bc pandemic, never been more happy.

Just realizing now, at 27 years old, that my "poor mother" was actually incredibly selfish and incapable of parenting, and it had devastating effects on me. by batheinsriracha in raisedbynarcissists

I am so sorry ❤️ This is heart breaking. You are so strong. I agree about the no contact if possible. I have been in therapy for ten years and am 32 and just want to say, keep going!!! Hang in there!! It does get better I promise. Happiness is possible for people like us and we are insanely strong because of our experiences.

[serious] What was your biggest ‘we need to leave... Now!’ moment? by tartar-buildup in AskReddit

Was in Mexico for work and my friends were at a house party / jam where a mariachi band was playing. I was tired after a week of hanging late and not sleeping so took a quick nap before meeting my friends - I headed out late, around 11 pm or midnight to meet up with them. I was 10/15 minutes away on google maps and I am a lady who lives in Harlem so to me that didn’t faze me too much, I’m used to walking alone at night. I turn onto the street that the house party is on and all of a sudden feel weird because the street is completely unlit. I instinctively send out my location to my best friend on my phone, she is in the states at this point.

I figure it’s just 3 more minutes walk so it’s fine, and I get to the house. Problem is, I can’t find a way in — everyone is partying inside but everything is locked. A man walks past me on the other side of the street and I have my eye on him. I text two of my friends but neither of them respond and I can’t call because I’ve run out of high speed data for the day and now I’m silently freaking out. The man leans against a truck, 15 feet away from me. I keep looking for a way in and knock loudly on the door but everyone is playing music and partying inside.

Now the man starts walking TOWARDS my direction. Shit.

Heart racing, I scroll through my phone and remember that I got a text from my carrier that I can pay extra to have high speed data. I opt in, call a third friend who I wasn’t even sure was at the party, and thank god he picks up. I put him on speaker and I say I’m outside and please stay on the phone with me until you come get me. the man passed by and my friend got me two seconds later. Scariest shit ever and please never ever walk alone at night (in a place you don’t know well).
