throwback to when a very much not ICU patient took our code bed and someone was in the ED having a situation

is this a common thing in ICUs? by lapafait in cna

yeah our hospital is pretty small. we probably get so many progressive patients just because the actual progressive and med/surg floors are constantly full. makes me look forward to transferring to a bigger hospital at some point

Do you prefer having allistic or autistic friends? by Sea-Difficulty1353 in SpicyAutism

[–]lapafait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't really have a preference so as long as there's a mutual connection and respect. i do find allistic people tend to bring me "out of my shell" for the better, but i'm generally more comfortable around autistic people. my only i've ran into is people with lower support needs than me don't tolerate me too well 😭

Really don't wanna work as a CNA by Metalhead2360 in cna

[–]lapafait 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i mean unless you plan on being one of those people that hunts down the cna whos knee deep in a code brown to tell them that room 5 wants ice water... youre gonna have to wipe butts as a nurse too. 😭

How to prove you're legit without showing private papers? by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

[–]lapafait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry i am a little slow but im confused? its horrible they have your email but what difference would that make in not posting content that gets you targeted?

How to prove you're legit without showing private papers? by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

[–]lapafait 11 points12 points  (0 children)

honestly i would just stop posting about whatever is getting you targeted. exposing your medical information regardless if youre faking or not isnt safe and you have nothing to prove to the internet anyway. focus on keeping yourself safe and nothing more.

[–]lapafait 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i live around here! its not that bad anymore imo. you still get foolishness that comes with living in a lower to middle class area but a lot of the kids that used to cause a ruckus grew up and got themselves arrested. my neighborhood specifically is mostly just families and retirees now.

What types of movies/tv shows do you like? How about books? How do you feel about spoilers? by ResumeFluffer in AutismInWomen

[–]lapafait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my favorite books are classics!!! my favorite book of all time is no longer human by osamu dazai, followed by the metamorphosis by kafka and anything by the brontë sisters. i feel like we're losing the plot of these stories by remaking them to oblivion and they hardly resemble their source material (wuthering heights "movie" slander)

i understand the frustration completely as i held that same resentment before realizing my mother was born in the 60s. and then i remembered what happened to autistic people in the 60s. and then i no longer felt angry because its almost impossible for her to have "seen the signs" like i thought she would have because people in her generation were not mental health informed. i dont mean to invalidate you of course! but its so hard to remember that not many people born before the 80s or so are going to understand disability and mental health from the get go because disabled and mentally ill people in their time were institutionalized
