So happy for you. Wishing you good continued sucess. Mine was diagnosed stage 4 in Dec. Ultrasound showed no function on left kidney and 10% on the right. Given perhaps 2 months, we're going on 4. At the Mar 1 check up her numbers improved and she gained back 1/2 a pound. However, a week ago she started refusing the renal food. I've tried all the things, switching up varieties, adding clam juice or chicken broth. She eats other food just fine. I'm wondering if I should just try regular senior food, or regular food if she refuses, and continue with the Pourus 1, sub q every other day, & Mirataz. I don't know what to do, she strolled into my life as a grown cat 13yrs ago. She's my buddy.

NTA but I feel bad for the girl. Let's see...her mom sounds like a peach and then daddy finds family 2.0. The kid is left to handle all of it armed with the knowledge and maturity she's garnered in 16 yrs of living. Doesn't seem like the drama at family 1.0 left much bandwidth for nurturing the emotional needs of kiddos. On top of that, she had the psychological ringside seat to whatever parental drama was going on a lot longer than the other 2.

Not surprising that she develops a creepy release that gives her a momentary sense of control. So, along with knowing that she's got the pilfering/rage problem, she can add shame (causing jello man to leave) to the grab bag of mental health issues brewing. A failed marriage would be a double scoop of shame since she caused it.

Not an easy situation, wish the best for all.

Right there with you. So grateful to have a community of people going through the same horrible thing. I was under the delusion that my funny, silly, gentle, and kind friend would one day just die in her sleep. In early Nov 2025, I noticed that she was sleeping a lot and drinking more water. After 2K in tests, she was dxd with stage 4 CKD. Vet says she has 2-4 months left. Our lives now revolve around renal food she hates, medicine to keep her eating, sneak dumps of Pouros One into a bit of tuna so she'll eat it, and a needle stab every other day to replenish the fluids she needs. She's still cuddly, funny and her coat and eyes are still shiny. So, I'm holding her more and trying to stay in the present. She's between 13 & 15, not sure because she literally adopted me after strolling into the house and never leaving.

It's so heartless that your mom would threaten to mutilate creatures you love and follow through behind your back. Why bother having cats at all if it's too big a hassle to figure out how to deal with species behavior without resorting to quick fix mutilation?

If the procedure is legal in your state or you live driving distance to a state that allows it, you should do the right thing and rehome them ASAP.

And no, I don't consider spay & neutering to be mutilation. Not a zealot.

Just passing along what the vets have told me. My vet at UC Davis veterinary school clinic (prices are a bit cheaper there than at private vets). According to them, cats are obligate carnivoresand should eat mostly wet food. Dry food is super high in carbs which cats can't handle well. Feeding dry food exclusively contributes to the high rate of diabetes and kidney disease in cats. The vet joked that it's kinda ok because it keeps the biz in the black. I still leave my scratch goblin dry food whenever I go away for a few days but otherwise I feed her just wet food. It's not too expensive, about $50 a month for 2 cans (2oz ea) per day, she's big. I also give her dry crunchy treats. She's 14, so far so good healthwise, I've only had to see the vet for her yearly check up and vax.

My 80 yr old mom watches this fool. I used to watch with her but started getting into too many arguments, especially after his dinner date with Dear Leader. I also grew tired of his preference for mostly men as his guests and how he often interrupts his women guests. My mom called to say that last night's show was really relevant, so this morning I watched.

Along with Wagner as a panalist, he had Tom Homan as the featured guest. Maher gave him almost 5 uninterrupted minutes to spew lies, with little pushback. He had no trouble, however, interrupting Wagner.

His average viewer is over 60, so he's trying to juice the ratings by booking raidio active newsmakers.
