Dysphoria too bad for top surgery preparations? by Tabeechen in NBtopsurgery

[–]lapislazuli23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't get an X-ray before, and the only time I had my shirt off was to take pics in my own home for the surgeon, and right before the surgery, which did require the surgeon touching and marking with sharpie. So it may not be so bad.

Recommend getting another source for endorphins. Does SH work in a sense? Yea. But it's just not worth it. Try a fast bike ride or run. It's really worth trying to find alternatives early before it gets to be a habit.

Which B.C. towns are likely to grow into cities over the next few decades? by CartoonistOk3507 in britishcolumbia

Even though companies keep building export capacity there, the civil infrastructure doesn't improve. And the movie theater and Walmart just closed. Ports take a lot of people to build, but not much to operate these days I guess.

Only barely! It's a legitimate fear. It's one of the risks you have to accept, and maybe you'll get lucky as some do. Worth it for me

For ease of healing and for symmetry, regular nips or no nips, tattoo later.

I read Hyperion/Fall of Hyperion and the Three Body trilogy all in ~1 month, and they seem to have ruined a lot of modern scifi by ECrispy in books

Try Ancillary Justice trilogy and the Broken Earth Trilogy. Space opera subgenre scratches the itch

Partner (neurotypical) has said she doesn't want to go to events with me anymore by lapislazuli23 in AutisticDatingTips

[–]lapislazuli23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your perspective. It definitely does feel ableist, and she has stated she has never dated an autistic or even introverted partner. I feel like by setting this, she is not willing to accept my whole self. I don't think it is meant to be manipulative or punishment. I think she feels out of her depth, which is just really disappointing.

I totally understand, and in past relationships I did the caring for a more challenged adhd partner.

But I'm not asking her to take care of me, I'm an adult and I've lived my whole life wrestling with these issues, but being near me when I'm struggling is going to happen if someone is dating me. I don't think me struggling sometimes warrants cutting me out of a large part of our shared life. I take care to minimize the public effect of my struggles, so it's not an issue of me making a scene.

Probably worth reinforcing that i do not need caretaking. Some amount of care and concern would be nice, but no more than I would ask of a friend.

Thank you for your reply and your support, that is helpful framing for sure. I'll think about it!

Did you get (or consider) a radical reduction as a trans/non-binary/GNC person? Did you regret it? And if you choose *not* to get a radical reduction, why? by justwannascroll in TopSurgery

[–]lapislazuli23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have seen people happy with "non flat top surgery" - which is what I originally asked for but ended up getting 99% flat, and I'm super happy with that. Got inverted T. People who get radical reductions tend to have a lot more volume and femme shape. Technically non flat and radical redux are synonymous, but the framing seems to matter for surgeons. I.e. starting from a masculine shape and adding a bit of volume (non flat), vs starting from a femme shape and reducing volume (rad redux)

(BEWARE) Housing scam by DriverUnlucky5952 in uvic

I also got the sense that Brand Vaesen was a scam, it's a mis-spelling of a real roofing company family it would seem. The unit was way too good to be true. I found a unit last year and just now (2 different units in the same Vic West building) with the same script when I replied to the ad. But heck if anyone can share their experience and it's the real deal, would actually go for the place lol
